In short: plenty to see, flat course and good fun In full: Never done this one before - it was a large turn-out for the day, majority fun runners/first timers which made it a very entertaining run, just to watch firemen, army soldiers, navy people, and just how many people there was raising money for charity. In terms of the route, pretty straight forward, from the hotel, past the tower, right down to the big one, and then back to a finish on the sea wall. slight incline on the road on the way back, but nothing major. The medals were good, lots of music and instructions over the tannoy which was handy. plenty of water stations, only negatives was; the crowd wasn't amazing (mainly hungover/still drunk stag and hen dos) and the finish was a bit of a bottleneck, but I wasn't sure why as there was plenty of people dishing out the water and medals... anyway, overall, this was a good run and not too many elites, so stand a good chance of doing a good PB time! (just make sure you start of in the right place as I started with lots of people who should have been at the back (started walking at 2km...) Date of review: May 10, 2010
In short: Good race worth a repeat trip In full: Good race. The atmosphere is enormously charitable with the majority of runners promoted good courses. Very crowded and serious runners needed to negotiate space so as not to experience bunching; there was a lot of tripping at the start. My GPS watch recorded the course as 6.07 miles rather than 6.21 which suggest the course was measured short.
Great atmosphere and great draw for beginners and fun runners, and good PB course for all. Date of review: May 10, 2010
In short: It's a popular fun run 4000 runners says it all really. In full: Second time and I'm not fast but after last year I made an effort to get nearer the start of the race (but well behind the expected <40min starters)well still didn't move for 20 seconds and it seems a fair number of people with no thought of even running it just start at the front. It was a case of going all over the road to make any progress. The support along the course was OK shame about some crude shouts from stag type groups. Course was a little short which was a shame thought I'd done well (ha). Nice medal and good start/finish and what posh porta loos. All for a good cause and I'll gladly come back. Well done to all who took part. Date of review: May 9, 2010
In short: Great flat course. Iconic route In full: Fairly well organised event. A little trouble with the parking but nothing too serious. runners need more space at the start again no chip timing which is a shame. Still, great medal, well organised and decent atmosphere Date of review: May 9, 2010
In short: Great day out. Not too hot, not too cold. In full: Four of us came dowm from Cumbria. Daughter's boyfriend = PB. Brother in law = PB. My wife = PB. (Very pleased with all that). Me = Got a speeding ticket on the way to the race!!!! I'll be back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Date of review: May 27, 2009
In full: This is the second time i have done this race and this years organisation was better than last. Alot of people never had their time printed last year including myself which was annoying. I still think it would be better if it was chipped as there are alot of people doing the race and mistakes happen. Will be doing it again next year though as got a PB of 50 mins this year and really want to get a time of in the 40's. Date of review: May 12, 2009
