In short: Heat and hills challenging. Still a good day though, the whole family enjoyed it !
In full: My 3rd year. I know what is coming with the hills, but keep coming back for more. I think this is a lovely, friendly race, just need to work on flattening those hills :-)

In short: Very well organised race, ticket prices could have been a bit more cheaper as next year it would be cheaper for whole family to do the race.

In short: Great day out, killer hills!
In full: Lovely race - hills in the first 3 miles are a killer though! Don't expect a PR on this course, but very scenic, marshalls very encouraging, all round lovely day out especially if having picnic after and wandering around the zoo! One thing to note - the discount to get in the zoo for the wife and kids was next to nothing - so it still ended up costing them £30 to watch me (and nip round the zoo afterwards of course!). Overall i really enjoyed it - see you next year!

In short: Challenging but fantastic fun.
In full: A wonderful race in a wonderful setting. Felt a bit like half an hour of mountaineering followed by a 5K race. How long was that hill? But great support and great marshalling more than compensated. Had a lovely day in the zoo with the kids to round it off. Highly recommended.

In short: Enjoyable if challenging for a non-XC
In full: I managed a PB, but considering this is in my first 5 races that is not saying much - especially as the others have been XC!

Hills were a challenge but not impossible.

My Son enjoyed the Fun Run too - one of his first races. (This was a good warm up for me too.)

Rest of day spent in Zoo with family, with the weather as good as it was today it made for a great family day out.

Thanks to the Marshalls around both courses - great to have their support.

I would echo earlier comments that entering the Zoo was more expensive than entering the races...

In full: I really enjoyed this 10km race only 30sec off PB excellent marshalls, plenty of encouragment from the crowds in the park and on route, ideal weather for picnic and rest of the day around the zoo/park making it agood day out for family and friends

In short: Great location, even if it is mostly uphill
In full: Great place to have a race where all the family can have a day out. Not the quickest of courses, especially on a hot day, but marshalled well with 2 drink stations.
Good idea to have a staged start with times sign-posted, (40 mins, 45 mins, 50 mins ... you get the idea)however the signs were only about 3m apart. With 1200+ runners it made for a very congested start.
A little disappointed that supporters' entry to the zoo was so expensive even with group rates. My wife paid £12.25 when she could have paid £10 to enter the race and then just watched. Maybe the organisers can consider this for next year.

In short: Very well organised and fun if you enjoy your running with plenty of gradient!
In full: This was my first ever race and I knew it would be hilly so I was fairly ready for what was to come. I think anyone who did not know what to expect was in for a very rude awakening as it really was a tough course. Below is a quick summary of the course for those who want to run it in 2008:

Start -> 3K : 500m uphill then all flat/downhill to 3K
3K -> 4.5K : Long, steep and unforgiving uphill!
4.5K -> 6K : Flat/light down with water station
6K -> 9K : Another long uphill to test you and then a water station and a lot of flat/light downhill
Final K : Short, steep uphill at the 9K marker and then a re-tread of part of the early flat course to finish. Final 100m is steep downhill followed by steep uphill but by this time you are sprinting and won't notice.

Definitely a good course to practice on and very well marshalled with plenty of vocal support especially at the finish but forget PBs here!
