In short: Good way to work off the excesses of Xmas & New Year! In full: Apart from the distance markings, which didn't worry me as I use my Garmin, there were no real problems apart from getting a very muddy vehicle on the exit road :) Date of review: January 3, 2012
In short: Stunning scenery, well organised, good start to the New Year In full: A very enjoyable race. A 2 lap course with one mildly challenging hill that seems a lot steeper on the second pass. The scenery was really stunning and the course is well surfaced even though off road.
Organisation generally very good with lots of marshals and only small possible improvements. The distance markers were a little confusing as someone else has said - the 5k and 10k markers look the same and certainly for the 10k indicate distance remaining. I was relying on my Garmin and the measurements did seem to be pretty accurate. Would certainly be good to colour code between the 5k and 10k markers if possible.
Water stop was quite easy to miss, but it was a cool day so didn't actually use it and some Marshals could have been a little more vocally supportive - it really does help in the latter stage of the race.
All in all though a really excellent race - thanks to all the organisers. A great way to feel a little better about all that Xmas excess - will be back next year. Date of review: January 3, 2012
In short: Great way to run off the Christmas cake In full: I have done this numerous times. It is always good fun and mildly challenging. The only fault is the utterly confusing distance markers which no one can understand. They appeared all mixed up. Please put them in colour code for 5k and 10k and make it clear if it is distance left or distance done ! Other than that is always a well organised race Date of review: January 3, 2012
In short: A very lovely day with a group of horses running in a field alongside as though they were joining in the race,! A site that will not be forgotten in a long time! Great day with great people!! Date of review: January 2, 2012
In short: My first 10K race and it left me with mixed feelings. Organisation could have been better, very good mix of people. In full: The friendly people in the race made this a good day out. This was brought out when queueing for the loo, only four loo's with nearly 400 people there, not good. Loads of people used their warm up run to find a secluded tree!!
There also seems to be some concern over the actual distance. Some-one with GPS measured the course at just over 11K, which explains all the slow times people got. Can anyone confirm this???
Generally a flat course with a couple of humps here and there. One of the really scary things was the cattle grids!! I'm surprised some-one didn't do themselves an injury on these!!! I noticed a few people slipping and sliding!!
All that aside I still enjoyed the race and the day out, thanks to all involved and anyone who said Hi to me!!
In short: nice scenery but nasty hills at the end In full: Entered on the day which was quick and easy. Was scenic ad slightly muddy. The hill at the end was a struggle especially the second time round and the whole race seemed more than 10k. Enjoyable all the same. Date of review: December 29, 2004
In short: Over 10k but an enjoyable race In full: Very scenic and enjoyable race but let down a bit by the start being a bit chaotic, no distance markers or water stations, and no published results.....and it was definitely more than 10k !! Date of review: December 29, 2004
In short: Muddy, with hill at end and longer than10K In full: Lovely setting, cant say it was uplifiting due to the mud, ice pools and bugger of a hill at the end of each lap. Over 10k - according to my watch/gps 11k so forget PB's. Not happy being passed by a bloke in stockings, blonde wig and false boobs! Will take batteries for the starter next time.
