In short: Good Fun but a more worthy goody bag (sports drink and energy bar etc) please unless they include the bag as a memento. Good fun never the less.

In short: An enjoyable day. Very hilly, poor surface and far too narrow in some areas, But would do again.

In short: Good if you want a mildly challenging course for your 2nd ever half, bad if the 11 mile marker is dead on where you usually finish your training runs!
In full: I was really looking forward to doing my 2nd ever half marathon in my hometown but wasn't sure how it would compare with my first, the Great North Run last year. Thankfully I had a great day and really enjoyed the course. The hills aren't as bad as everyone made out before hand and although it's not a massive race there was still plenty of support along the route. My only quibbles were the drinks stations (where it wasn't made clear that the little cups were sports drink and not water), the stingy goody bag (although the 'small' t-shirt really was, which was a nice change) and the use of the ropey old pavements on parts of the route instead of the road. Being local I was aware of all the potholes but I feel sorry for everyone else, especially in the crowded spots. All in all a good day though!

In short: Average Inner City Half Marathon
In full: A well organised race, mildly challenging, shame no sports drinks on route and could do with a drink and snack in goody bag at finish.
But at least the medal was an improvement on the previous year

In short: Great PB potential.
In full: Always great to run at home, so without a doubt a great race! But putting personal feelings aside this has great PB potential. no major hills, no dog legs - good straight running.

In short: A big city half
In full: The starting pen system is great if you are an "elite" athlete (sub 95 minutes - not very elite, really). Great atmosphere at start / finish in square. However, it's best to get the 13 miles in-between over with as quickly as possible!

In short: Great course, shame about the organisation
In full: Loved the route - you get the hills out of the way early on.
Locals were really encouraging.
Bad organisation - nearly missed the start due to crowding in Millennium Square and confusing barriers all over the place.
There were no sports drinks at all and by 7 miles no bottled water which really affected the second half of the race - you can't run with cups!
I will be back but more water next time please
