In short: Great way to start the year, and if you've not overdone it over the holiday period then there's definitely a chance of a pb. In full: This is a lovely event, well organised and well marshalled. All concerned had smiles on their faces despite the freezing temperature. The mementoes are always something out of the ordinary (a bottle of First Chance beer and a glass in 2005, and an embroidered towel for 2006), and there are plenty of spot prizes too.
The course is basically two laps of Exeter's Riverside Valley Park. It's tarmac on the way out from the start, and then it's a less even surface on the return leg. To complete the race you run past the start to the canal basin. Date of review: January 11, 2006
In short: It was a chilly one! In full: Fantastic course, brilliant organisation, amazing prize (a big towel!!!) and special guests (Ron Hill & Bruce Tulloh) for a really informative Q&A afterwards The only thing that let this one down was the awful cold!!! It was a rather grey day, and Exeter seemed to just miss out on snow, but with such a great atmosphere, not many noticed! Just meant conversations were cut short after the race so I could run back to the car and add layers again!!! Date of review: January 11, 2006
In short: Fabulous towel! Good course, friendly marshals. In full: Anthing that went wrong on this race was entirely due to me - too old and too heavy and time to retire! Towel is really lovely. Thanks. Date of review: January 8, 2006
In short: Excellent organisation, quick course and great unique momento. In full: Did race last year enjoyed it despite having a cold. This year minus the cold it was great. Organisation was really top class. However it would be an idea to have the goody bags at the finish rather than the race HQ. Date of review: January 8, 2006
