In short: As good as it gets
In full: feeling brave, then forget road races and try this one out - mud, hills and more mud.
Well organised and so many cakes at the end -you couldn't ask for a more friendly race.

In short: Lots of hills and loads of mud! Exhausting! Better changing facilities and toilets needed.

In short: Mud, sweat and tears
In full: My second time at the rough 'n' tumble and kept thinking this event is like Christmas - great fun, but I'm glad it's only once a year!!

Still found this very, very tough, even on the flat bits I found I was so exhausted from the hills and marshes I couldn't get any speed up. How anyone runs round this course is beyond me.

Great training run, just the thing to do if you need to toughen yourself up, mentally and physically, for bigger events (eg FLM). Great views from the hills but mostly too busy concentrating on what I was doing to take in the scenery.

Made sure I got my cakes before the race as I doubted there'd be any left by the time I finished!

Thanks to all the marshalls for your support and good humour, thanks especially to Steve Goulding for providing a top-notch event! Will be back for more next year.

In short: Muddy fun!
In full: Loved it! Was muddier than last year and the wind at the top of the hill was gale force which made it that little bit harder... Lots of friendly marshals, good organisation (only niggle was the long queue for the bags at the end) and lots of lovely mud to run through! Will definitely be back next year :)

In short: Hard. Tough Conditions. Filthy. And quite brilliant!
In full: Race director (rightly) described conditions as both "abysmal" and "horrendous" but if challenging events is your thing then this great fun - in an exhausting and filthy sort of way. Oh that eye-watering wind! Oh those morale-destroying hills! Oh that strength-sapping mud! Brilliant!

In short: Great fun with big mud
In full: Forget your mass participation events this is the sort of event you should be doing.

Great support from the village, marshalls, other runners and the medal with 'roughed and tumbled' on the back made me smile.

Hope to be back next year.

In short: Like a Dance with the Devil - Now it is Your Turn to Feel the Pain !!!!
In full: :-))

Blows off the Xmas Cobwebs, with Semtex !!!!

With climbs to max hour heart rate, even if you walk, and descents to die on this race is ideal for anyone who is half human half mountain goat.

A superb start to every year, this is guaranteed to burn off a few excess mince pies and then some. Just grit your teeth and get stuck in. Don't look up and don't look down, even the flat bits are hard as nails.

A real must-do race, but whatever you do wear your trail shoes otherwise you can expect to break your legs.
:-))
