In short: Glorious course but the organisers need to iron out the chaos at the starting line In full: This is a wonderfully scenic course with plenty of of PB potential - out along the wide and flat prom, up a zigzag, returning along the undulating clifftop with a 2.6km flat finish back along the prom with plenty of potential for a sprint finish.
The only thing that marred the race was the organisation at the start. Although runners should have positioned themselves according to their predicted finishing times (as per signs along the starting barriers), the organisers were pushing all the competitors backwards from the starting line with the result that the quicker runners (who should have been up the front) were pushed backwards into slower categories to make room for other starters who were much much slower and should have moved through the crowd to the back (but didn't). This meant that the start was extremely congested and quicker runners had to dodge plodders for the first 1km or so before the race thinned out. An easy solution would be for the starting barrier to be filled from the back, so that quicker runners can make their way forward to the starting line, not vice versa.
Aside from the chaos at the start, it was a lovely race and a great day out. A great t-shirt and nice medal. Date of review: April 4, 2011
In short: Nice run..nice weather..nice day In full: Well organized run on an excellent route with good scenery. Will definateley do it again. Only slight niggle is the route to the start for runners, who approach from the front and stay there. I started in the sub 45 area and had to negotiate my way around a pantomine cow. In short: Great race, fine weather. Lots of crowd support and lovely scenery In full: Time-zone finishing signs were displayed but not all runner's were aware of them thus causing congestion at the start. Possibly get someone to remind runner's to queue in the correct slots in future. Apart from that, organisation was excellent including the option of a free massage pre-post race, nice medal/tshirt and other seaside attractions. Date of review: March 31, 2010
In short: Well organised event, taking in the benefits of Bournemouth coastline In full: Well organised event and I was pleased to be part of it. Only criticism is directed at the runners who don't start in their appropriate time zone, causing difficulty for those behind them. Date of review: March 29, 2010
In short: Lovely course along the seafront with a steep challenge! In full: Lovely first 5K along the seafront, challenging up hill at zig zag half way round, but flat/undulating return. Definitely doing it again next year! Date of review: March 29, 2010
In short: Good weather as rain was forecast! In full: Good race apart from the start. The problem was that runners approaching the start had to do so through the front of the start line. So many slower runners then just slotted into the front spaces and this proved for congestion at start. Otherwise good race, plenty of room on prom after start. Zig Zags gave it a bit of interest. Some KM markers were quite a bit out 2 and 7 I think. Good T-Shirt and medal Date of review: March 28, 2010
In short: My very first 10k run, came 963rd :-) but was chuffed to bits as only started running in November 2009! Zig zags a killer tho! :-O Definitely be there next year, great weather and atmosphere, may even do the half marathon next year! :-@ Date of review: March 28, 2010
