In short: Good race, so many supporters and good marshalling In full: Overall, really good race, it was too hot for my liking but that's nothing to do with the organising. The only thing I'm puzzled with is the course on both on my garmin and endomondo showed 13.2m not 13.1m so even though it's not a big deal, the 100meters costs in terms on of 30 seconds or so, so really adds to your time.
Pros: Very well marshalled So many supporters and great how the course loops down the high street twice so you get double cheers which is great Good value
Cons: Course length wasn't quite 13.1m a bit of congestion at water station 2 - because it was a hot day, everyone was stopping for water and it got really congested, runners bumping into everyone and also waiting to get a cup of water Great finish in the park for friends and family waiting for their runners Date of review: March 16, 2014
In short: Fantastic local support + lovely race In full: Did this race last year and weather couldn't have been more different, hot and sunny - not best for running but made for great atmosphere. Lovely route along country lanes, really well supported by the locals, much improved finish and great marshals. Recommended. Date of review: March 16, 2014
In short: Great race again but what have they done to the medal? In full: This is my local HM and starts around 10 minutes walk from my house. I got a PB last year but was running with a cold today so was 10 minutes slower. Marshals and onlookers very supportive and it was a beautiful day which wasn't good for fast times but helped a lovely atmosphere.
But what a disappointment at the finish. The medals in the last three years have been bespoke, really nice ones. Reading really raised its game this year, but for some reason Fleet went down a cheap route - it may not matter to lots of runners but if you are running your first HM you really want a special medal for it. What a shame - otherwise a perfect event. Date of review: March 16, 2014
In short: Fantastic race with great organisation and enthusiastic crowds! In full: Fantastic race.....after last years freezing cold / drizzle - 20C and full sun was a shock to the system! Great organisation and large crowds made this as always a very enjoyable race. Well done to the organisers. Date of review: March 16, 2014
In short: Well organised race on a course without too many hills In full: The organisation and marshalling was excellent; the route was a mixture of town and countryside but there was loads of support. The announcer was also very good at encouraging people in to the finish. The course is accurately described as undulating, but none of the climbs are very long so still good for a PB. In short: Wet and well supported half In full: Really wet day meant it was hard to get ready as there was no space left in the marquee, but meant. You wanted to get round quickly to get out of the rain! Couple of hills added a bit of spice... Date of review: June 10, 2013
In short: pace yourself for the hills In full: excellent support and well organised. It was wet and the only down point was the track and grass for the finish. lots of support in the town and even in the rural there were people at 7 miles offering jelly babies Date of review: March 24, 2013
In short: Excellent race, terrible conditions this year but a PB brightened my day In full: This race has everything going for it. It's professional organised but not too big and busy. I find the course to be fast, the roads are closed and the support along the route is great even on a really wet and miserable morning. Date of review: March 22, 2013
