In short: Well organised, good friendly event. Nice course as well. In full: I did this race about 5 years ago. I would say it has got bigger and better since my last time. Well done to the organisers. Date of review: May 4, 2012
In short: Carlsberg don't organise 10k races, but if they did...! In full: What a fantastic 10k race this was! I had to make an 80 mile journey to attend this and glad I did. Very well organised, great atmosphere with a fantastic crowd along the way and road closures through the town made it all worth while...oh yeah, and a new 10k PB! Result!! In short: Flat, fast, and well organised... In full: Well marshalled, very friendly atmosphere, and good medal & t-shirt at the end. My only suggested improvement would be better speakers at the start line. On the whole this is an event that does Chippenham proud Date of review: September 16, 2011
In short: Can't think of a better event for my comeback race In full: Picked this as my first race back after a long and miserable winter of injury, having only done a few 5k park runs this year. I'm glad I picked this one, mainly for the friendly atmosphere and support around the course.
Very well organised especially given the number of people who attended. My sister and her husband were at the race but it was so busy I didn't see them!
Very pleasant run through the town and countryside and as I say the support for a small local race was superb - thanks to everyone who made the effort to cheer us on.
I wasn't sure how I would cope with a 10k so just ran with a friend doing his first ever 10k. Wouldn't describe the course as especially flat but some friends did get a PB so there must be potential there. Personally I was just delighted to get round painlessly, even if I was 20 minutes slower than my previous worst 10k time!
Not the cheapest of races but good value, nice goodie bag at the end, liked the towel which is useful for my gym classes and a lot better than a medal. Only gripe was having to queue for so long. In fairness, perhaps the organisers didn't know how many people would turn up, so it is to their credit that they didn't run out!
Have only done this once before in my running career but will make a mental note to make this a more regular fixture in my running calendar.
Well done Chippenham Harriers, see you at the half marathon in September. Date of review: May 10, 2011
In short: Brilliant Race - shame about the finish :-( In full: This race is getting more and more popular. I missed last years race so was amazed to see how many more people entered this time around.
The course is undulating but not too challenging as long as you have trained.
Having the pacers definately helped. I managed to knock two and a half minutes off my previous best!
The finish could be improved simply by having the goody bags packed ready to hand out. My friend fell over at the finish line and gashed her leg and had to wait 20 minutes getting through to the goody bags before she could recieve attention. Date of review: May 4, 2011
In short: good course, quick, potential for pb's. In full: this was my second competitive 10k. had poor prep for this race, however pleased to finish in top 45% of finishers.Course really good, hill?? at 9k try running up London Road in Calne.Queueing at end a touch farcical, but liked towel.Oh not enough toilets!!!!!!!!!! In short: Well organised race on a potentially quick course In full: Gradual inclines rather than steep hills with some pleasurable downhill sections. Hill at 9k not as threatening as I thought. Embroidered towel in goody bag was a nice touch. definately be back next year Date of review: May 1, 2011
In short: Great route, plenty of marshalls, well organised all apart from the goody bag queue In full: This is a really great race, which for a small town attracts a large number of runners. The start is generally well organised, complete with pre-race mass warm-up. Loved the pace runners this year - thank you guys!
Only moan is the queue to collect the goody bags. The contents were good, nice towel, but the wait was long whilst getting cold & stiff. Thank you for handing out the water as soon as you crossed the line, but maybe pre-packing the goody bags would save such a long wait next year.
Thanks for organising this race though - thoroughly enjoyed it (and took 3 1/2 mins off last years time too!) Date of review: May 1, 2011
In short: A well organised race and well unorganised goody bag collection. In full: My second time at this race and as previous the collection of numbers/chips is smooth as silk, nice atmosphere with 'Smashie and Nicie' at the race start, the pacers was a nice touch (don't remember them from last year), nice crowd support out and about, a mad sprint at the finish and then stop for 25 minutes whilst you receive your hand picked goody bag - what was all that about it's not like you had a choice of size/colour or anything! Pre-pack the goody bags, it was done last year and that worked so why different this year? The goody bags were good and probably one of the best on the race calender, but come on!
