In short: Fast flat course and all money raisde for agreat cause
In full: Fast course; flat as a stamp except one tiny climb and largely straight out and back sea front roads. Well organised with plenty of water stations and nice medal at the end. Could have done with more toilets and crowded at the finish line as medals handed out just afterwards, but small things for a great well organised race.

In short: Good race on a flat course. Multi lap course detracts.
In full: I enjoyed the race though I'm not sure about the PB potential of this one. Even though it's flat the laps make it a little bit tedious and the weather made it a challenge. Still it made a change to run in the sunshine and not the rain. The water stations and sponges are plentiful and very welcoming. The organisation and marshalls are very good. The only downside was that the parking seemed very disorganised and there was a real bottlenck getting out with parked cars blocking the exit.

In short: Great race for a PB-As long as it,s not too hot!
In full: I love this race-It,s the 4th year in a row i have done it-And my 1st as a member of a running club!-No PB for me this time round and i didn,t quite make it sub 2 hours this year, But i still enjoyed it, Even though my legs felt they were on fire by mile 8 (Nothing to do with the course-Just lack of training on my part and getting old!-lol!)-One good thing about this race is you get to encourage your fellow club members or see your supporters 2-3 times on the route. On the 2cnd lap there is a slight incline that you do not notice on the 1st lap and the slight hill just as you turn off towards the finish at the end of the second lap is more "mind over matter" as it,s not that steep but your legs are tired at this point (well mine are anyway) A couple of points to note for next year-people were helping themselves to finish drinks and bananas at the start, Which was understandable as it was warm, But it worried me that this would cause there not to be enough water left at the finish-Fotunately my fears were unfounded, But had it been hotter, It may have caused problems-Maybe next year the finish drinks/bananas should be guarded to prevent a reoccurence?-Also one of my fellow runners measured the course at 13.3 on their garmin?-And they did not cut any corners either!-Queuing to get out of the car park is a small price to pay for free parking and no chance of a parking ticket right next to the start. There are plenty of water stations/sponges on the course and one resident even said ^&*())_! to the hosepipe ban from what must be the wettest drought in history and was spraying us with water with a hose from his flat!-Cheers mate!-Long live the British spirit!-lol! The organiser of this race does take on board feedback from this race and has moved the water station at southend seafront turnaround point back towards shoeburyness as it was causing bottlenecks with runners stopping for drinks and turning round, Although i think this may have been implemented in 2011. If you are going to do this race make sure you have sun lotion and apply it whatever the weather as if you don,t get sunburn you will probably get windburn. To finish i,ll just say thank you to my club members from EERR club for the lift to and from the event and support and also to my mum and dad for coming and supporting us-Roll on the 2013 Southend Half Marathon-This is a Bucket List race, Even if you only do it the once-Get it done!

In short: An excellent, very flat race. I personally ran a crap race but this is not the fault of the organisers. the queue for the car park in and out was annoying but the organisers did warn about this before. laps slightly dull

In short: Flat and well organised, would recomend
In full: Well organised and as flat as it was promised to be. The loops were actually nice as you get to see the front runners a couple of times. I did it in 1:38 and only came across a couple of tail enders so no problem with mixed paces on different laps. Couple of slight inclines in the last 3 miles but nothing to take the shine off a very flat route. It was warm but loads of water stops with cups of water and a nice touch with sponges. Plenty of Marshalls and signs. The only thing to watch out for is the queues to get into the amply parking. The roads are narrow and the organises do what they can but it takes time to get the cars in. The station is very close so if you can take the train.

I'll be back next year if I can.

In short: A fvery flat well organised race
In full: There is a very small climb at about mile 11 which makes this a quick race - I personally ran a poor race. I dont like having to run 'laps' and you run the same stretch 4 times but it is along the seafront. Overall a very good race.

In short: Excellent race, well organised, great PB potential
In full: I love this half. I've been doing it for the last 4 years and is one of my 3 "musts" of the year (along with Brighton and Royal Parks). It's one of the best organised races of the year, really friendly local support and brilliant marshals, with loads of water stations and sponges. It's a really flat course two so great PB potential. The course can easily accomodate the number of runners so it doesn't feel too busy. For those that care, it's UK Athletics registered too, so appears on Power of 10 and Run Britain Rankings.
