In short: hot and tough with some little niggles In full: when a race is advertised as chip timed it suprised me when once id run through the start i hadnt run over any mats, then hey presto i realised there werent any... so my plan of starting further back and working my way through was blown to pieces before i start... this combined with my pet hate of collecting numbers on the day was not a good start. on the positives though after a rather dreary run down a never ending main road the scenery was very nice on the way back down the tow path, but caution, despite it being advertised as flat (yes ) but fax?? on that gravel tow path, im not so sure...Also as ever another hot one, not the organisers fault of course and the race did start at 9am so at least this was considered...
hung around for the presentations and was impressed to see a 1500 quid cheque handed over to local charities and then hung around by the river for a few hours for the pub to open and scoffed a sunday lunch to get rid of the frustrations of earlier... Date of review: July 26, 2011
In short: Well organised and flat 10k route with a strong field of runners In full: This was my 6th 10k run this summer and the flat and comfortable route allowed me a new PB. It is very well organised, with supportive marshalling, allows good use of the Xcel leisure centre before and after the race, prints the race results pretty much as soon as you cross the finish line and offers a great medal - which for a further £4 I got engraved. An excellent race and I'll be back again. Date of review: July 25, 2011
In short: As advertised: flat & fast In full: My first time running this 10k, having seen it advertised as a fast course and seeking to improve on my 10k PB (which I achieved). A well organised race, the first 5k on open roads and the second 5k on the tow-path. Well signposted route and friendly marshalls. Mainly one for club runners, although the course is ideal for beginners. Plenty of parking by the Xcel leisure centre. Although it was an early start by starting at 9:00, it managed to avoid most of the heat and meant the tow-path wasn't too busy. Date of review: July 25, 2011
In short: Flat - fast - well organised In full: This one is right on my doorstep so I couldn't resist it! As a non club runner (although I've run a fair number of races in the past few years) I felt perfectly comfortable at this 'clubby' event and I thought the organisation and information at the start were impeccable. Quite a frantic start - I hope the lady who took a fall near me went on to have a good race - but I guess a lot of runners were aiming for a good start and a PB on this one. It's always a bit tricky when a race is held on open roads/footpaths but the marshalls did a splendid job and offered some much needed encouragement at just the right moments! I thoroughly enjoyed this one and will back next year to hopefully improve on today's time! Date of review: July 24, 2011
In short: Fab In full: I commented to a friend there was a nice buzz around before the race, and all in all it kept that feel all the way round. Well done Elmbridge RR, very nice job indeed. Date of review: July 24, 2011
In short: Very high calibre field make this a must do race for PB seekers In full: Fantastic organisation on the day. Amazing runners up front; people doing it for fun at the back. Family friendly atmosphere. How races should be. Date of review: July 24, 2011
In short: Thank you Elmbridge for another great 10K! In full: I overheard there were many more entrants this year, always a challenge for the organisers but Elmbridge were as efficient and friendly as ever. A good club runners event but the route is ideal for a first timer's 10k too. Thanks again. Date of review: July 24, 2011
