In short: On paper it looked like an intimidating club run but in truth it was the complete opposite!

In short: back to basics XC
In full: Positives - Great course
- Good atmosphere
- Well priced entry which means they don't mess around with event tshirts.

Negatives - I know its traditional to have XC events on a saturday but it will mean I will not be able to run in some years due to football.

In short: really good race well marshelled
In full: First time for this race, loads of club runners but a very friendly atmosphere with loads of really positive marshals. The nice sunny day helped but the mud was terrible in places even with off road shoes. No water stops, one would of been nice and a bit of a trek to the club house which we skipped.
Really enjoyed the club feel of this race well done.

In short: Very enjoyable race
In full: A thotroughly enjoyable run even though I had great difficulty staying on my feet in places. Will definitely invest in some proper footwear for next time. Tea and cakes afterwards was a nice touch.

In short: Bambi on ice without spikes, have never giggled in the middle of a race before
In full: Thoroughly enjoyable - for next time I'll be less tight and will get some spikes, but it wasn't impassable in flats, just a bit dicey in places. Some good uphill sections and great variety of terrain. Special thanks to the Herne Hill Harriers who were so welcoming at the start.

In short: Great traditional XC, testing course, well organised and a good atmosphere
In full: Very good race - a good, testing course with some steady climbs and one or two steepish (for London) hills. Some excellent fast stretches on downland too. The camber and mud make it tough on the ankles and calves. Don't think about trying it in flats if there is any chance of it being wet; the mud was slick and I saw guys in flats having a bad time of it (every time we started climbing / dropping rapidly I was catching a few guys who were clearly faster than me but who were having to pick out every step). No bells and whistles, just a good XC.

In short: Very friendly race over scenic downloads
In full: Very friendly race over scenic downloads. Good mixture of terrain (mainly chalky downs), with some ups and downs but nothing too testing. Definitely more interesting than most of the cross country type events in London.

In short: Classic tough XC
In full: Lots of mud after heavy recent rainfall and some stamina testing hills. Highly recommended! Watch out for the cut off of 45 minutes for the first five miles.
