In short: Fantastic first race
In full: I absolutely loved this race, I'll definitely be doing it again next year (I'm just sad I have to wait that long)
The marshall were brilliant, can't fault the generosity of spirit that had them clapping and cheering all the way through
However, road shoes are a definite no no - running up a hill slightly slower than you are sliding down is not the most encouraging feeling ever!
Stupid footwear choices aside I LOVED THIS RACE

In short: Hills, hills, hills
In full: Very well organised, great marshalling, drinks in the right places. Just reading some of the others about the farm entrance, this is the only negative part of the course. Like the clif bars at the end. Nice touch.

In short: Tough but fun
In full: Could have done without the slurry filled ditch after 10.5 miles but other than that a good tough course. Enough slower runners to make plodders like me feel welcome.

In short: Lots of mud, few rivers and a couple of huge hills
In full: Hard, hard work.

A little bit of rain and it turned into a very difficult race. Even with trail shoes you had very little in the way of grip.
The hills were very steep, impossible to run up and the river crossings were suprisingly refreshing after lots and lots of mud and slipping and sliding whilst trying to put one foot in front of the other.

I pity the runners in the middle of the pack to the rear, it must have been horrendous for them.
I think this has to be nearly as hard as the Snowdon Marathon!
Would I do it again? In a heartbeat, very challenging but very rewarding.
