In short: With traffic free roads that is always a plus.
In full: No problems with the race apart from miles of empty roads in front of me in the marathon. However where was the chip timing(Ipaid for it presumably) ,also the free race results(maybe I missed them)also not enough loos at the race hq.Baggage without numbers is a disaster waiting to happen. No room for runners what would of happened if it poured of rain.

In full: Only down side was the drunken yobs still returning home from the night out, quite obusive but added to the challenge! It was lovely to run so close to the sea and the excitement of the fair, a great day.

In short: A great day for a PB... but not achieved!
In full: The day should have provided a PB but those last few miles are a killer on the marathon. It was all I expected from Blackpool and more, the sun came out, the roads were closed, the promenade gave a good running track - no chance of getting lost. The marshalls seemed to be everywhere with words of encouragement. For family it was good as my wife got to see me on each lap. And who could believe the weather at Blackpool in April.
Yes, some of the scenery wasn't that good, but then it isn't all that good at many of the rave events, including the FLM.
I hope the organisers are able to run the event again as it is certainly an advert for good smaller races, running with 20,000 people may bring lots of sponsorship but it is hard work.

In short: Fab Race - nothing to complain about regarding the HM
In full: This race sums up Blackpool - sea, hotels, promenade, rollercoasters, arcades and holiday makers with hangovers. What do people expect wild deer and woods!!! I hope this is not the last race it far outstrips the Great North West HM

In short: 2 flat laps
In full: I echo the thoughts of most that the 2 laps were not very exciting. Not a lot of support from the tourists, but they were probably more interested in finding an open bar. The organisation was very good and that cannot be faulted in any respect. It is sad that this is probably the last ever Blackpool marathon as it has a lot of potential and could easily grow to 2 or 3 times the present size

In short: Good for a first time marathon but more support needed at later stages to give me a push
In full: It's difficult to descrine the experience. The organisation & people involved in the race were fab but being at Blackpool on a sunny weekend meant that there were a lot of bemused onlookers who would rather smoke, jeer & drink beer! The last lap became quite frustrating when people walked along the route & did't move out the way for you to pass. Several time I thought about asking for a lift on a bike as it pushed passed me!

In short: Great run, good course, well organised
In full: Only thing I could fault was my own eagerness and starting off to fast for my first marathon, paid for it in the last 4 miles. Beautiful weather, well organised, plenty of drinks, traffic free roads.

Can't understand those people complaining about the course being dull and other trivia - this was the Blackpool marathon so surely you knew what to expect?

These races are getting harder and harder to organise and deserve our support before they are all gone. This was the last Blackpool marathon according to the organisers.

In short: Brilliant day

In short: Just enjoy yourself!
In full: This was my 4th half marathon and you know what? It was excellent. I run because I find it fun, I don't get runners who treat runs like fine wines, picking fault in ridiculous things. The other runners were excellent, everyone was having a right laugh, it was a really good atmosphere. Yes Blackpool is tacky but it's pretty clean, and I personally think the organisers did a great job. Imagine how hard it must be to convince Blackpool council to close a road that is key to the town's tourism? It must cost them a fair bit of money in my opinion. I really really hope they continue this run because it was great. The naysayers were a minority and were probably keen to get back to their model trainsets. The runners I witnessed on Sunday were a good bunch, having a laugh doing what they love, rather than scutinising for the sake of Hornby.

On a seperate note, I hope the man who collapsed in front of me was ok. I got to the medics as quickly as I could and I hope they sorted you out :)
