In short: GOOD ATMOSPHERE, LOVELY PEOPLE BUT BIG COCK UP ON MARSHALLING
In full: I really liked almost everything about this race; easy parking really close to the start, nice smallish crowd, really friendly marshalls, lovely surroundings and no toilet queues!

Unfortunately they made a huge mistake in not positioning a marshall at a turn coming up to 3 miles in. Resulted in a lot of the really fast finishers cutting out a whole mile of the route and for me having to do an about turn as other runners came running back towards me saying they'd gone the wrong way. I was luckier than some in that I lost no more than a minute but mildly annoyed as would have been a pb without the wrong way detour.

Such a shame as for a small local race I really liked everything else about it but given it was such a monumental mistake to make can't give it any more than an average rating overall. Can't get annoyed about it though as was a charity race after all.

In short: The weather was glorious compared to last year and the scenery was wonderful. Just wished I had seen a few deers rather than the paper antlers on the floor! li

In short: Nice event and good seasonal spirit
In full: Lovely course and scenery. The course is FLAT except one 'hill' (of no more than 50m of ascent). However being more of a trail route it certainly makes a pb very difficult... but not impossible as I ran it in my pb of 40:57 (however I hadn't done a 10k for over 6 months and have upped my training in the meantime!)

Well organised parking etc. but start a bit confused. Could do with at least separating sub 45 min runners as I got stuck at the back and took at least 3k to get back to where I should have been!

Goody bag is disappointing - empty!! I'd rather have a medal or the money be saved and go to charity (we get goody bags everywhere!)

Didn't get mince pie or mulled wine after.

Overall nice event though and even with the extortionate price (for a smaller 10k event) it is worth doing due to the festivities.

In short: Lucky with the weather, great organisation, but definately 'hilly' not undualating !!
In full: Good - Lovely feeling to the race, good parking, great atmosphere and fab mince pie at the end with mulled wine.

Not so good - no medal (yes we runners are all really sad and love our medals) - would have this over any other 'goodies' in a bag. Due to running it twice there was a long steepish hill, which after the mud was harder than I was expecting. 'Undualating' was not a fair description. No baggage drop. I was dropped off to do the race and had to ask a nice lady volunteer to agree to look after my bag (which she did). And finally - charging 2.50 per car to use the car park was not acceptable. This is for charity!! Hence i did not pay this and was dropped off to do the race.

Will be back next year depending on where the race is (please go back to Hatfield House - hint hint!!)

In short: Muddy but fun
In full: Hilly and muddy but thoroughly enjoyable. Lovely park with herds of Deer around which was great to see whilst running. A medal would have been nice but otherwise a very good race.

In short: Great run in a great setting for a great cause
In full: Good fun, lovely atmosphere - very impressed the antlers stayed on - they were more robust than I thought! Course was muddy and slippy so not PB material but well supported and in a lovely setting. Hot drink and mince pie was very welcome at the end - thank you! Personally prefer a medal but the cute kit bag will not go to waste! Parking was easy and plenty of loos for the number of runners.

In short: Great scenery and fab course - even with the mud and hills!
In full: i really enjoyed this course, it was challenging and very different from the usual road races I do. I enjoyed getting muddy but it was hard to run through!

That long hill you hit at 2k is a nightmare, and the knowledge you hit it again at 7k was not one I enjoyed too much! but actually was easier second time around.

I enjoyed the race, thought the mince pie and mulled wine tea were a nice touch and look forward to doing it again.

In short: Very Freindly race through superb countryside
In full: Managed a pretty good time and would like to know the race position achieved (guesstimate 10th place)?
Mince pies and hot chocolate afterwards Fantastic!
