In short: Well organised, friendly race In full: This is an annual outing for me, I love the race. The course is flat....I lied, it has two monster hills which would suit a mountain goat, which makes it a challenge I want to do every year! Keep up the good work Date of review: March 21, 2015
In short: Knocked 19 mins off my flat PB, those hills couldn't have been all bad! Fantastic run loved every minute! Great tshirt and medal. Well organised. Enough Marshalls. Cosy wait inside. Great track start and finish. Date of review: March 20, 2015
In short: Pleasant, challenging course, ideal for beginners. In full: Very well organised, minimal queues for toilets, nice track finish. Minimal traffic, with a great canal towpath section - mainly flat, aside from two whopping hills around half way & 10 miles, though the last 2 miles are downhill, so fast times are possible. Chip timed, though I'd prefer the chip to be on the race number rather than fiddling around attaching it to shoes. Decent goody bag, with a sports drink, banana, crisps, snack bars - and a medal & technical running t-shirt, so good value for money. Well recommended, could well become a regular fixture in my race calendar. Date of review: March 18, 2015
In short: Testing course and all the better for that. In full: Running well requires great discipline - fast on the flat, minimise hurt on the hills and fly downhill. Get these wrong and its slow, get them right and its a great test. Date of review: March 17, 2015
In short: Great facilities, superb organisation, scenic course. In full: This was my 3rd HM and first time at this event. Really impressed with organisation and facilities - starting/finishing in a stadium is fantastic and I've never seen shorter toilet queues before a race.
Course itself has a lot of gentle downhills and some nice flat canal sections, but two very tough climbs. The first shortish, straightish, and steep, the second longer, windier, and nearly as steep. Some nice scenery that would have looked even nicer in the sun. Great marshalling/organisation. Felt like there was plenty of space on the course after the first few miles, without ever feeling alone.
Nice well-stocked goodie bag, nice t-shirt and a bonus to get a medal too.
Thanks to everyone involved! Date of review: March 17, 2015
In short: Great training run for the London Marathon in nice countryside In full: The organisation by everyone involved, the location, course route, facilities at the stadium, goodie bag, the cost and the relatively small number of runners made it fantastic experience to be part of for my first half marathon event. Definitely recommend it. Date of review: March 17, 2015
In short: Excellent friendly well organised race. In full: My third year of running this race and I managed a course pb despite the two killer hills. Well organised and friendly with no one being asked to drop out after 1.5 miles as far as I know. Great goody bag and it was a nice touch to have a medal this year with it being the 10th anniversary of the race. Date of review: March 17, 2015
