In short: Decent Race despite the unusual weather In full: The was a race that was always going to be affected by the weather given its location and it was nice to see that the organisers had made an effort to find an alternative route [GPS monitor showed 12+]. The marshals all did an excellent job especially thoes on the carpark and at the baggage point though I must agree that the lack of water after the first water point[3m to 9m] also affected my running as the sun had come out and it was blisteringly hot from the start, so the heavy downpour by the time I got to the 10 mile point was most welcome. The course itself is quite testing with a lot of gradual climbs and short down bits so not too sure if this is a PB course. Will be back next year to test myself over the full distance. In short: floods but water stations dry In full: thanks to the marshalls for there support and encourougement, but really no water at the stations from mile 3 to 11 was criminal and definately affected my race performance and spoilt an otherwise well organised event Date of review: July 1, 2007
In short: Was only 11.7 miles as the original route was flooded- shame! Was glad that they found an alternative route though as was an enjoyable race. In full: Not sure if I will run this race again as driving there and back was a bit of a nightmare-esp with horrific rain down pours on the motorway coming back. The race was the easy part by far!Was a real shame that the original route had been flooded but I was v grateful that the organisers went to the trouble of finding an alternative route so we could still run (most of it). Apart from the distance being cut - I spoke to other runners about this at the finish- there were v few drink stations and very small cups of water were given out. However, sounds like last year there were lots so have just put this down to having to change the route at the last minute. Thank you very much to all the organisers - your hard work and support is v much appreciated!
In short: Enjoyable run. Great support from organisers, marshals etc. Fast route. In full: Aside from the fact the weather caused the reduced route, I enjoyed the run. I clocked it at a fraction over 12 miles, which rounded the distance off nicely. Clearly evident that runners turned out regardless of the re-route. Lots of cash raised for a special cause. In short: If it wasn't for the re-route it would be very good In full: The race ended up being EXACTLY 12 miles but I don't think the organisers knew this. The water stations were feeble, but other than this it was a very good event. The Three Counties showground is an excellent placve to start and end races of any size - (Bristol take note).
