In short: Not another hill... In full: I have to admit to not enjoying this in the slightest. A 10am start in June is asking for trouble as it proved to a few people with the heat. Its hardly a shock for the weather to be 20 degrees in June. An earlier start would've been needed given the time of year. By the first drink stop I was dehydrated and all they dished out was a small plastic cup which due to running spilt everywhere as did a lot of runners. its a very unforgiving course. I did the Longleat Half a few months back which is also hilly but I enjoyed that a lot more. That was a 9am start which is what this race should be as well, given the elevation of the course and also the time of year. This course has long hills (not particularly steep but they chip away at your stamina) I most likely won't be doing this again as I did not enjoy it and I love running usually. The organisation for spectators was very good though and the running village is a bit of a fun day for all. Sorry about the rant. Things to improve this course... Bottled water please and an earlier start time.
In short: my favourite race......the ice lolly does it every time! In full: Love this race despite the hills! Often hot, always hilly but always friendly, well organised and good value ..... I will be back....again! Date of review: June 10, 2014
In full: Tough day at the office, like a lot of others strugled in the last two miles. Lots of water provided & help quickly available to runners overcome by the heat. the organisers showed that its planning not luck that makes this a great event. And yes there are still people that ipod rules don't apply to them. run again in 2015... Date of review: June 9, 2014
In short: Very good day at St Albans yesterday; glorious weather, challenging course, supportive crowd and well organised. Will do again. And ice lolly at the end was wonderful!!! Date of review: June 9, 2014
