In short: OK race and well organised but nothing special In full: Although Mallory Park is a motor racing circuit it is very short at around 1km. As a result the race began with a clockwise circuit, followed by a loop around Kirkby Mallory village before a final anticlockwise loop around the circuit. There were a couple of moderate climbs so its not mega fast, plus the wind this year made pb's less likely. I found it a bit boring to be honest, but inoffensive and reasonable value for a good cause. Two pairs of socks inscribed with the race name was a nice touch. Course was well marshalled. Overall ok, probably better suited to newcomers. Date of review: August 22, 2007

In short: Could become a good 5K event - shame about the rain. In full: I think the weather spoilt this event today but the organisers can't control that. There is definite PB potential in this race with only 1 repeated short climb. Km markers were missing which would have aided runners looking for a time. The location (Mallory race track) is good making the vast majority of the race traffic free there is a fair amount of parking and plenty of toilets. The T-shirt and medal were both good quality making it value for money. I'm sure that there is potential for Hinckley to make this race as good as their half-marathon. Date of review: August 25, 2006
