In short: Redhill 23/10/10 10k mud, mud, glorious mud, and then add some more mud for fun.
In full: Friday night rain meant the course was very wet and soon churned into a quagmire. Was advised in pre-race info to wear old trainers as they would get ruined, big mistake! Wore a pair that have seen far too much action and hence had virtually no tread. This meant i was sliding around going uphill (of which there were plenty), downhill and even on the flat! Totally ballsed my chances of a respectable time but it did add to the fun (everyone elses that is, lol). Cameraderie was great and the military guys were spot on. I even beat one of the soldiers who was running (mind you he did have a ruddy great pack on, hehehe). Everyone should do at least one of these. Was an hours drive each way for me but was worth it. I'm wearing my "survivor" t-shirt with pride. Hope all the injured people i saw throughout the race were eventually ok, and very well done to all those that competed. Lastly, many thanks to the six physio guys and gals for my post race massage, worked wonders on my hill knotted calves and quads. :-)

In short: Hills, mud, but a smile on my face, and great atmosphere!!!
In full: With 'military' in the title you would be surprised if the organisation wasn't 1st rate - and it was spot on. No PBs but you don't turn up for an event like this with that in mind do you?!?! Great camararderie amongst everyone and great marshalling. Military guys were great motivators. Lots of slidey hills which mean normal road trainers were no good. Make sure you wear something more grippy (I reckon my footwear got me round 5 mins quicker than normal runners). Do it, it's a cracking experience!

In short: mud..OK, obstacles...not so bad..but the hills!!!!
In full: Great way to spend a chilly, slightly damp Saturday morning.Positive that there were more uphills than downhills and overnight rain meant that it was extra muddy and slippery especially on the downhills. Really recommend a pair of trail shoes- mine meant I was able to stay up on my feet and even hit the slippery slopes at a (slow!)run- others in road shoes really struggled on the muddy hills. Great atmosphere and a real challenge. Must sign up for next March....

In short: A really great first military style race and makes me want to sign up for lots more events like this. Especially like the bits in the water and mud. A great laugh!
