In short: Good challenge from the rolling course
In full: Not a PB race due to rolling hills but it's still fairly rapid due to good roads and no sharp corners, bottlenecks etc. Fairly small field of mainly club runners - good for the middle of pack pacing. Event HQ in the Epsom racecourse was fab, esp as good changing and shower facilities. No homemade cake though.

In short: Hills not as bad as I had feared...and of course what goes up must come down!
In full: First time for this race, and I had worried about it as hills are not really my thing...but I didn't think they were that bad all in all, and I loved the long downhill sections!

I liked the fact that the race HQ was a way from the start as it was a good chance to warm up. And thankfully they started the race with very little pre-amble.

Price was steep though.

In short: Well organised race with a few hills early on along country roads
In full: I really enjoyed the race. The changing rooms are in the jockey's weighing rooms (probably a joke in there somewhere about being considered overweight for first time in my life).

The course is all on quiet roads. First mile is down hill then next 3 miles are up. After that the course gently undulates until the mile 8 which is pretty steep. The finish does suddenly appear after turning off the roundabout so limited chance to wind up a sprint (assuming you have anything left!)

Overall, excellent marshalling and well organised race. Hanging around at the start was a bit chilly but that can be blamed on the lack of heat my fellow skinny runners generate.

I'll be back.

In short: I'd forgotten how undulating the course is / was
In full: Well marshalled on a cold morning for standing around - managed to work up a decent sweat over the course. Only downside was the running out of mugs for the slower runners - although it gives miseryguts less to moan about "Not another mug, you've got enough of them gathering dust" etc! Makes a change from "Not another Tee shirt, you don't wear the ones you've got"!

In short: Friendly but hilly narrow roads and lack of water.
In full: The run was well organized, with plenty of friendly marshalls putting up with the rain.

However, there was only one water stop, mile 5 where you were only given an inch of water - nothing on completing the race - which was a big deal for me, as i came to the run with only my car keys, so had to wait till i'd driven 30 mins home for a drink of water.

Although the area looked as though it would be very scenic (hard to tell in the rain) and there were paths avaliable, we only ran along road. The roads were very narrow in places. In particular, on the uphills the cars had to slow right down to pass the runners/on coming cars. This meant you were breathing in loads of exhaust fumes whilst trying to run up a huge hill!! I also got splashed, shoulder high, by a car driving through a puddle next to me... was quite refreshing actually.

Maybe i've been spoilt by other races, but paying a similar amount - £12, i've been given timing chip for the event, plenty of water stops and a goody bag (including drinks, snacks and a medal). On completing this race, all I got was a yellow mug with 'Epsom 10 road race' didn't even say 10 what on it...

Another little pain was that you finished about .5 mile from the start. As i parked my car at the start, it meant i had to walk .5 mile back to my car. Not really a big deal, but i was soaked through and it was hailing, so that was very unpleasent!!
