In short: Tough as you get but the rewards are fantastic
In full: Toughest half I have ever done, an I've done a few. Lots of hard hills which suits me as I'm a plodder. Fab scenery which rewards all the hard work. Incredibly friendly if sparse support and really well organised. Can't wait till next year

In short: The route dropped through a really picturesque dale and just for a moment I forgot it was supposed to be a tough race! The drinks stations were stocked with Buxton mineral water - nice touch, and the Pavillion Gardens are a nice place to finish!

In short: Brutal hills, fab organisation, firendly marshals, gorgeous scenery, bargain price
In full: Definitely one for next year despite the personal worst time by 1o minutes. Fab course with stunning scenery, organisation was first class, marshalls were very friendly and still a choice of t-shirt size even at the end. Made to feel welcome despite being one of the back markers - would definitely recommend to anyone fats or slow.

In short: Great challenge, spectacular scenary, nice atmosphere
In full: My second year of the Buxton half and it doesn't get any easier. The beating sun and humidity made the climbs even more difficult, but a very welcome improvement this year was the bottled water, rather than the cups last year. The bottles were a perfect size to run with for a while, which really helped in the heat. The scenary is spectacular most of the way round and the venue for the finish in the pavilion gardens is perfect, especially for those who have brought family or friends. The programme that the organisers produce is also a nice touch. The marshalls are all helpful and friendly, but I would encourage the organisers to ask those marshalling the final turn through the car park and into the promanade to be more proactive in directing runners and alerting pedestrians, as this area was a little congested with cars and the public, which made for some confusion for tired runners trying to understand where to go and make their way through. The friendly organisation, venue, scenary and challenge of the course make this a really special race and I aim to be back next year.

In short: hardest half I've ever done but worth it.
In full: Not having done Eyam I can't compare them but this was tough. I set myself a target of 2hr which I just managed to get inside so I was pleased. Nice mix of weather from hot to warm, a stiff breeze thrown in with a bit of rain. What more could you ask for? Many thanks to all involved in the organisation - a job well done.

In short: Hilly, challenging, but scenic and fun!
In full: First time at this distance and was very nervous having read the 2009 race reviews, but I got through it and what's more, I really enjoyed it. There is no doubt that it is a very hilly course, but anyone who regularly runs up a few decent hills can manage this and the scenery is well worth the effort. The organisation was great and there were plenty of water stations - particularly welcome during the first few miles when the sun was beating down. Would highly recommend and looking forward to next year!
