In short: Good for a pb half marathon In full: Good if you are doing a half marathon to do 2 laps has got to be dull as to be fair not that much support on the streets, Wolverhampton is such a big city Ican't see why they onlt send you to one corner of it, Also as soon as you go out of wolverhampton to south staffs area you are on the road with cars... not nice if its your 1st competetive marathon. But the DJ/comintator at the end tried to give every one a name check and got the crowd going.
Very well organised, happy marshals... just a shame they do 2 laps when it could go through some.. lets say nicer parts of Wolves Date of review: September 12, 2013
In short: Wolverhampton the 6th In full: Enjoyed race took time off from last year but running since 2008. I started 3 minutes late but personally, I enjoyed the twists and turns as gave me that push every now and again and got me a PB on the course. Thanks again to the organisers, volunteer marshalls, fellow runners, supporters, banks beer bike and the Asian ladies who were giving away free orange juice and bottled water out of their own expense from their house. Will be back next year Date of review: September 7, 2013
In short: friendly atmosphere, "testing" route. In full: Dear Wolverhampton race organisers, please straighten out that section through the estate its horrible! thanks. Enjoyed everything else though...especially the beer truck at the end. Date of review: September 3, 2013
In short: Good Value and Friendly Atmosphere In full: My first marathon for a while...last one was Sydney so the views are never going to compare to the harbour! Overall well organised, nice welcoming atmosphere at the start and especially finish where all runners are announced by name as they approach the line. Only gripe was on what was a pretty lonely 2nd lap there were a lack of marshalls a couple of times and I had to rely on signs for directions at some stages through the housing estate which was a bit difficult when you are exhausted.Having said that, most marshalls were very good and supportive. A few long slow hills near the end which was challenging. Plenty of water at frequent intervals, some nice support from the local community although a bit quiet in stages. Nice medal and T-shirt at the end, my son ate the Greggs biscuit and crisps in the goody bag! Good value for money overall and a nice day out. Date of review: September 3, 2013
In short: Poor T-Shirt No energy drinks or gels, Some marshalls either not paying attention or chatting! In full: A fair race though I've had a few grumbles above but flat/undulating? Really? Er No the word Flat shouldn't be mentioned anywhere near this race! No Mega hilly but enough undulations especially late in the race to test even experienced marathoners. In short: A well organised race. The marshalls were excellent. A two lap marathon, which is a bit lonely on the second lap. Excellent value for money. The only improvement would be some isotonic drink / gels on the 2nd lap. Date of review: September 2, 2013
