In short: One too many long hills In full: Seemed strange to start in the road, when there is a sports field next to the road. Also the end was in the middle of a road, and it seemed too cluttered when your trying to finish a race, the last thing you want is a medal given to you and your timing chip taken from you. The route is based in the countryside, but there are two nasty long hills one of which is right at the end. Date of review: January 13, 2013
In short: Great way to start the new year In full: This is a great race - the last couple of k are hard work but it's a slow and and steady hill rather than a steep hill.
The route shares part of its way with the goring 10k (which is on March 4th and is also lovely) and the countryside around this area is fantastic. The route is on quiet unclassified roads and feels very rural, so in route support is a bit lacking, though there is plenty of support at the top of the hill at the end.
Organisation was efficient and the marshals friendly and supportive.
My overriding memory of this race was a little boy giving out high fives to runners at the end of a farm track in the middle of nowhere - gives you a nice glowy feeling! Date of review: January 8, 2012
In short: A great way to start 2012 In full: A well organised race with a challening course, but great conditions this year. Thanks to the all the organisers and marshalls. Date of review: January 8, 2012
In short: great Race In full: All good at first part of the race (6k), but the last bit which is the 2.5k is all UP HILL and back eck it was hard and a lot of people did walk up it but if you have got the energy like myself then you'll do it Date of review: January 8, 2012
In short: A cracking race to start the year! In full: As others have said there are not many flat bits but well organised great fun. Not sure how I kept going on that last up and up! Date of review: January 8, 2012
In short: Challenging but scenery makes it worth it In full: A challenging race with 5k downhill followed by 5k uphill and an especially tough final 3k, but the race is very well organised and the beautiful scenic countryside makes it worthwhile. Huge thanks to the marshals for giving up their time up to help out and to all the local residents shouting encouragement - I'll be back next year! Date of review: January 8, 2012
In short: enjoyable & rewarding In full: a friendly event in the Oxfordshire countryside...makes the steady 3k hill at the end worthwhile. Thank you to the organisers, great marshals and youngsters at the water stations! Date of review: January 8, 2012
In short: Whiles not the fastest race you're going to run in your life, add say 2 minutes onto your pb it fits in very nicely with a xc season, good testing hills at both 5k and 7k the latter heading right up tot he finish. Date of review: January 14, 2011
In short: Great race with lots of hills. In full: Great weather with a good mix of hills (not many flat bits!). Thanks to all the marshalls who stood out in the cold and cheering everybody on. Date of review: January 11, 2011
