In short: More hilly than expected, though the long down-hill sections make up for the climb in places
In full: I was happy with my finishing time but the course definitely made me work for it. Nice running up and down the country lanes in the sunshine, though the start/finish location on a narrow pavement was a less appealing aspect. Good placement of water station for multiple fly-bys, and a nice big medal afterwards!

In short: Picturesque course, encouraging marshalls - but no showers for the ladies!

In short: Beautiful scenery, friendly marshalls, lovely race!
In full: Just back from this event (my first ever 10 mile race and the furthest I've ran so far) at it was so nice it has convinced me I'm ready for my first half marathon! The course was mainly country roads with beautiful scenery throughout, and mostly rolling hills but nothing too strenuous. It seemed very well organised with nice clean facilities at the race HQ, and friendly marshalls throughout - always a plus! :o)

In short: More pros than cons make for a good race
In full: Pros
- Nice route through mostly traffic free roads
- Well marshalled
- Very friendly
- Good value

Cons
- Car park too small. I got to the designated car park at 8:40 and got the last parking spot. I saw so many other runners driving round and round getting very frustrated. I don't know where they parked in the end. Some parked outside designated bays and got tickets.
- Need more toilets. Yes, I know there are never enough but I wandered round and around with several other people. We eventually found one with a broken door and had to ration the loo paper to a couple of sheets each. I then had to leg it to the start.

In short: nice to see the start has changed from last year
In full: definite improvement to see the start on the main road unlike the usual one of just outside waitrose with a sharp turn within 100 meters which proved a touch chaotic in previous years...so well done striders for listening to "US". anyway...the route has been tinkered with a little bit but not in a bad way...it still has the challenges including that seemingly never ending climb between 5 and 6 miles....and the marshalls were as encouraging and plentiful as ever. i always enjoy this run and will definitely be back again next year! well done striders for a very well organised event!

In short: Not as good as it used to be
In full: I always look forward to this race even with it's iffy start, but this year's renewal just seemed a little frayed at the edges nothing major but lots of little issues which detracted for what is usually a nice event.

I'm sure the organisers are aware of the issues themselves especially those caught up with the leader running back through half the field at the second and third water stop.

There's nothing wrong with the event even with these issues but if that's going to be the standard from now on then the entry fee should come down a few quid.

In short: A very challenging hilly race, not for the faint hearted!
In full: I ran this race in January 2011, this was the first race I have ever entered into. You may ask why the hell would you want to enter a 10 mile race as your first race!? Well, simple answer, I was over confident and neive! But!, never the less I ran the hilly route which takes you through lanes and country side. The support from marshals was excellent but I would suggest adding more water stations in 2012. (I will be running in 2012) The final few miles is all up hill which caught me out a bit and slowed me down but for my first ever race and a time of 1:22:06 I was pleased. Next year I'll be looking to blast the hills and beat my time. A nice medal recieved at the end and the feeling of real achievement! Overall a very good race.

In short: A race that runs in winter !
In full: After the cancellation of Buntingford 10 I was glad that the weather was kind for Fred Hughe 10. The start was a bit of a mess (aka Cross Country) even at the front and I nearly fell on the corner. Why start with a U bend I found this strange ? Anyway once the race was underway it starts off quickly and you can build into the race. I managed to beat my PB for the distance. A well run race by a local club so a "proper" club runners race.
