In short: A fantastic race with some great downhill bits... what hills? In full: I'd been off serious running for a while, but as this was a very loecal race for me, decided to give it a try. At the back of the pack, there was a good atmosphere and a nice welcome at the finish. Yes, it is tough, but very rewarding ! A definate for next year. Date of review: December 16, 2009

In short: You won't find a tougher December race in Lancashire In full: A very demanding course, which is dominated by the older runner year on year. I believe this year’s top three were all over forty.
The race begins on a slight downward gradient, then you reach Longridge village Centre, at which point you being four miles of up hill struggle that will challenge even the most experienced of runners. And when you think you have conquered the worse they could through at you, you meet Jeffrey Hill. An unforgiving mound of earth which will have you contemplating walking or even giving up and for those that do making it to the top, a view that most race’s simply cannot compete, as the beautiful Longridge Fell is presented before you.
Not long after this, you reach the four mile point, where after a quick down hill drop, you meet the last of the inclines, which in most years is covered in some form of ice. You are then rewarded for your endeavours with over two miles of down hill running/racing, before crossing the line to be presented with your well deserved Christmas pudding.

In short: The scenery kept me smiling, even if the hills didn't! In full: Tough first half but last couple of miles all down hill. It's worth the effort though for that scenery. Beautiful part of the country. Date of review: December 13, 2009

In short: Love it! In full: Wasn't sure how hard this race was going to be after reading previous year's reviews - it wasn't as hard as I feared. Yes, there are hills until mile 4 / 5 and one particularly challenging climb at mile 4 but there are plenty of downs inbetween to recover and the last 2 miles (which are down hill) are really fun. Really good, friendly race and beautiful part of the world. Date of review: December 13, 2009
