In short: Amazing scenery, challenging but still enjoyable. Will be back next year, many thanks AVR. In full: Very friendly and supportive marshalls and great organisation. Date of review: November 13, 2011
In short: challenging and wonderful In full: My second time doing this race and I loved it. Wonderful course, scenic, challenging but not ridiculously so. The river crossing was indeed a highlight but so was the towpath, the woods (some of) the hills etc. Very friendly and efficient marshals. Hats off to avr for an excellent race. In short: first multi-terrain race! it was great even with all the mud! In full: Ive done a few 10ks and half marathons but these were mostly road running, this was 1st multi-terrain race and it was great! very cross country, very muddy but a great laugh! and the river crossing was so funny! glad I wore my old trainers even though I slipped and slid around everywhere the race was great and I would definatley do it again. In short: sort out a proper car park !!!!! In full: arrived late - could not park anywhere - organisers there are already car parking issues in bradford on avon before any race takes place so find a car park field somewhere even if it half a mile away - had to turn round and go home again - a complete waste of time and money as spent all my time driving around wiltshire - pretty fed up !!
In short: A fun, challenging cross-country run In full: I really enjoyed the wonderful scenery around the route and the river crossing at Iford has to be a highlight! Good organisation, encouraging marshalls and smoothly run - I hope to do this race again after such a fun experience this year. Date of review: November 23, 2010
In short: Excellent race for multi-terrain first timers In full: An excellent multi-terrain, scenic, hilly race through fields and woodland and mud!! Very well organised, baggage storage, changing area in a club house type building and even showers. Entry was £10 although the places that were left were sold for £8.00 on the day. There were about 300 runners of all abilities and the race started at the historic Tithe Barn in Bradford on Avon, we then ran via a canal towpath and up in to the woods, plenty of kissing gates to negotiate and a few fences to climb over and we even had a river crossing at Iford, not as scary as it looked in fact it was quite fun. Marshalls were encouraging and there was a water station half way round. As tradition goes with these smaller races we had the chance to buy tea and home make cakes at the finish (within the barn so nice and warm). Organised by Avon Valley Runners and they did an excellent job. 10 out of 10 definately worth a trip there next year, was a fantastic day. Date of review: November 10, 2010
In short: Lovely run on a bright autumn morning In full: Good mix of fields, mud & woodland. Not as hilly as I thought but tough going in places. A good testing course & would recommend to runners who have yet to try an off road event Date of review: November 9, 2010
In full: Enjoyed this one as always. Well done AVR - especially with course change due at the last minute because of overnight rain. A big thanks too to all the marshalls and helpers (who needs hellrunner? haha) Date of review: November 8, 2010
