In short: Very well organised and a good run.
In full: Big thanks to the organisers and marshals who have done a great job. I'd definitely do this again.
Plus points:
- Well marshalled.
- Very visible KM markers on the route.
- The trail section through the park provided some good variation and added to my enjoyment of the run.
Minus points:
- Too many 180 degree turns
- Having to double back on some sections effectively halved the width of usable pavement and meant there wasn't a huge amount of room to overtake.

Overall, it was very enjoyable and I'd recommend it.

In short: Very Nice Run , Got a great Buzz off it and managed my time of 38 mins , despite the unexpected bends and Trail run and steps which slowed mine and i assume other runners paces significantly
In full: Overall ,this was a nice way to spend a sunday morning ,the route was good , however next year it would be better to be a faster pacable course without frequent shapr turns , the On Course Marshalls were very uplifting and raised the spirits of the begginer runners in the race , frequent water stations aplently , this surely was a lovely environment and Penny Lane Striders organisers should be proud , i was vindicated to run this race and would recommend to fellow runners in the future :)

In short: Very Enjoyable
In full: Very well organisd and loads of enthusiastic marshalls to cheer you on. One day I may break 50 minutes but I don't think it will be on this course, the wind, the steps and the narrow path through the woods put paid to that, but who cares I thoroughly enjoyed it!

In short: Not quick but very well run event
In full: Very good organisation, Great atmostphere and scenic route.
There was a lot of very tight turns which effect your pace considerably. The steps made your pace drop down to walking pace.
Tough last section on the grass as the surface was very uneven. Saying all that a great event and will be back.

In short: Great fun, but forget about a PB on the new course
In full: Entered because I was looking for a fast 10k course and I'd read many reviews on here saying this was a PB race. However, they had to change the route this year as apparently they couldn't get permission to cover all the old route. Despite the strong winds, the first half on the prom was pretty quick, however the second half goes into a park which whilst very scenic and relatively relaxing, involves a considerable section of steps and wooded trail. If it had been raining this part could have been quite treacherous as people wouldn't have been wearing trail shoes for what is predominantly a "road" race. There are also quite a few hairpin bends where you have to slow right down then turn back on yourself. The finale is a bit of an uphill on grass. Times did suffer as a result of the course but if you just want to get round, go for it. On the plus side, it was very enjoyable, with encouraging marshals and generally well run (the toilets blocked and the showers were cold, but that isn't the organisers' fault). Overall well done Penny Lane but I hope you get the permission you need for next year to be a fast route again!!

In short: If Carlsberg did local 10k races.....
In full: Great friendly atmosphere, clockwork organisation and excellent facilities went towards making this a thoroughly enjoyable event.
Race registration was spot on, as were the cheerful, obviously experienced marshalls along the well signposted route.
This race had a great spread of abilities making it a proper, welcoming club event.

The course was deceptively fast at first, but the loop through the park, and those killer steps before the "off road" section sorted out the stout from the faint hearts, (I'm obviously a wuss!).
I must have got lucky with my goody bag, but we all got a snazzily designed t-shirt that was well worth the entry fee for, and not one of those ones that will end up at the back of the drawer!
The Police club had great facilities: Its somewhere warm for spectators to get a brew from, and the rugby changing rooms and showers were great post-race for a freshen up!
This is a definite for next year for me. I dont think its a PB course, (the off road loop took care of that), but the "buzz" from such a pleasant event will stay with me all week!
A credit to Penny Lane Striders.

In short: Excellent
In full: Love this race, just about perfect.

Marshall’s – loads of them, encouraging and helpful, pointing out any potential obstructions. Great, friendly atmosphere and lovely weather, perfect for running.

Loved the new route and starting venue. Loved the trail bit through the park, it gave the route a nice bit of variety and a challenge.

Glad its back and hope its here to stay, well done to all involved.

And a well done to Liz!!!

In full: The weather was cool but thats not controlable wind as welcome change from previous few weeks. New course worked well with the superb marshals. One at every turn plus very friendly encouragement from them all. Nice to see and hear cheers for the last runners coming in which I am sure was appreciated. This summed up the whole race for me as very friendly. I enjoyed the new course, I am a slow runner and had to work hard in places but that is what it is all about. Well done Penny lane Striders see you next year.

In short: A fast, enjoyable riverside run in great atmosphere
In full: Most of the route was fast and flat (promenade along river Mersey) but the steps in the park were a killer! The loop through the park was definitely the hardest part, although people who don't like wind probably suffered on the prom. The overall pace, and especially the start, were fast. Very well marshalled, no chance of taking a wrong turn or cutting a corner ;)

All marshals very friendly - thank you Penny Lane!

The only thing was that the goody bags were very inconsistent and while this may seem petty, it didn't feel right when I got virtually a bunch of leaflets and a friend who finished 20 min later got lots of nice freebies. A snack would have been welcomed and I didn't get anything edible (others did). Also, I got a face cream for men, and a male friend got tampons - would be a good idea to do separate goody bags for men and women.
