In short: A grand day out courtesy of the Huddersfield Road Runners.
In full: A great and challenging course with three good hills (500-550ft of climbing altogether) but an easy going gentle downhill finish over the last mile. Definitely not one for setting records on but great for tuning up the legs for a faster course or longer distance perhaps. I enjoyed it, it was much more fun than going out and back a dual carriageway.

Race organisation was great, the race is well established. Food and running gear stalls at the start/finish. There was a T-Shirt, water and a sort of flapjacky thing for finishers, very welcome and tasty it was too.

In short: Brilliant race, if you like hills :)
In full: Some slightly punishing uphills, but very quick decents. Def worth entering if you like hills! Nice and cheap, well organised, good marshalling :)

In short: Well organised, lots of hills, chaotic car park
In full: This route around the south of Hudds is hilly, if you aren't going up you'll be going down so be prepared for a possible PW, its hard going. This year there seemed to be a lot more "back of the pack" runners, which is good to see.
The one down side of the otherwise excellent organisation and friendly marshalling is the chaos that results after the race in the car park, where speedier runners are exiting by the same route that runners are still trying to finish the race. Stay around for a drink in the bar otherwise you'll be stuck in the car a while.

In short: Not a PB course. Good local run. Good value for money.
In full: It's as it says on the can. Undualating-very. Plenty support out on the course. Very scenic. Missed a PB at the end as finnish was conjested with unnecessary people. Had to queue for shirt and then only had medium ones left. Water station was not obvious either.

In short: Very challenging course - bit chaotic at finish
In full: Tough course and no chance of a PB! Even the downhill bits were so steep that you didn't really feel as if you'd got back what you put in, but it was enjoyable all the same, and some of the scenery was nice.

Bit of a gripe about the organisation at the end - due to the only way to leave the car park at the end was down the road the finishers were running along, the actual finish line was only one person wide, and we had to wait in single file for a good 5-10 minutes after finishing to collect t-shirt. Also, with cars and vans driving down a single track road that was also the finishing strait, and where the t-shirts and water were being given out, it made for an exceptionally busy and unrewarding end. Enjoyed the run itself, but won't be back.

In short: A special challenge!
In full: Forget a PB - the hills will see to that; 3 'significant' ones, with 2 smaller ones. Great weather on the day made for an enjoyable outing - as did a sensible 11am start time (just enough time to come round from my Birthday drinks the night before!)
There were mile markers, you just had to look out for them, but no water station - only at the end. But as it's only 10k, water stations would just provide distraction from those lovely hills.
Great middle section scenery. And a flat, fast final mile or so. Good value at £9 - but would be nice to have something other than 'another T-shirt'

Nice pockets of local support dotted around, and on the way out, mostly traffic free with runners been given the left hand side of the road to play with. After that, just the odd car on small country roads before giving way to a reasonable pavement on the main road on way back in.

Only slight downside would be the narrow finish area, with cars trying to negogiate their way out whilst runners were still coming through.

This race makes you work hard, but the sense of achievement makes it worthwhile.

In short: Challenging hills and friendly support made for a great race. But let down by poor organisation - cars and runners don't mix in the finishing straight!

In short: A good run out!
In full: Huddersfield sure do make good hills! A brilliant local run, much better than Meltham. Only problems would be I was bit boxed in at the begining and end which slowed me down. Also cars didn't seem to see the 600 people running on the roads... odd that! No doubt people will be ranting in the local news how they couldn't get for their bacon butty for an hour on Sunday morning! Thanks to the Kingston Runners man who raced me at the end! A good finish to a good run.

In short: Nice race with plenty of space and big hills!
In full: Very enjoyable race and loved the hills on the way up but feared for my life on the way down...... It's the going down bit that would make me think hard about doing this race again. Only gripes are no water stations on course, no mile markers, and long queue at end for tshirt but otherwise a good experience.

In short: Good hills.
In full: No water stations or distance markers was poor, but generally an enjoyable race with friendly marshalls.
