In short: Friendly family race
In full: The Good: the concurrent school fayre makes this a great event for those with kids, pareticularly those young enough for the min-races complete with medal!
Great family atmosphere and good value for the medal and refreshments at the end.
enthusiastic marshalls and locals help make it a pleasant day out.

The could do better: So man on-line entries that registration was getting a little overwhelmed. the managed ok but maybe post out numbers next year?
The start was a bit chaotic due to the need to keep people of the roadway until start time... and a lot of folk taking no notice of the organisers trying to sort this out. a louder loud hailer needed to sort the chaos.... and ther Mayor needs to give it some welly with that bell!

In short: Charming race, just too hot for running!
In full: A lovely event but the heat spolit any chances of a PB for me! Great to have the school fete as entertainment for any supporters and a lovely yoghurt and banana break to finish with....medal too......thanks to the organisers and marshals.

In short: Hot hot hot!
In full: Hot but obviously not the organiser's fault! Entered the old fashioned way by post and received number and pre-race guidance in good time. Stuck to advice by parking on Crown Street car park in good time with no problems. Easy walk to the start and race HQ. The start was crowded but didn't notice any particular problems but then I always start at the back anyway. The course was flat although I have run on flatter ones such as the Salford 10k/Cleethorpes 10k/Birchwood 10k etc. so I wouldn't call it the flattest. Scenery wise it was ok, I've run a lot worse and two laps was helpful in the heat as I hadn't run it before. Marshalling was good and enthusiastic and drinks were ok, not that I usually bother on 10k's. Finish was ok, enjoyed the yoghurt in the shade of a tree. All in all nothing to complain about for this 55 minute runner, highly satisfied in the difficult conditions. Thanks to the organisers.

In short: Registration poorly organised. start a shambles. Only 1 drink station on a very hot day. if it had been at 3k/8k instead of start/5k you would have passed it twice.

In short: Charming little race now needs to up it's game as it becomes more popular
In full: It's a good course, fast and definite PB potential in the right conditions, which today definitely wasn't the case.
The start needs a rethink, the number of entrants they are dealing with means what have sufficed in the past just won't do. The location isn't the problem, there's plenty of room but 4 or 5 boards 10metres apart with projected finish times on to show the racers where to be on the start would help ensure slower runners don't get caught in the stampede at the front. The relay and 5k, valuable to the whole ambience of the day, are lower priority events so put them another 50 metres down the road until the 10K runners are sorted then bring the others up to the back of the 10K. A separate start by the mayor if necessary. And finally, the bell doesn't work, unless the mayor decides to really give it some welly next year.
Otherwise, this is a loveable event, I like the route, the race has a nice atmosphere and ties in to support the school fete. With the improvements necessary this will still be one of my favourite efforts.

In short: Good race but needs improvment
In full: The route shows great pottential but the heat was too much today at 30 odd degrees ! Charming little race but the start needed better organising. May consider it next year but wont put my name down just yet

In short: Flat course with a good mix of running abilities
In full: Wow what a hot day, 31 degrees!!
Lovely atmosphere with a lot of non club runners like myself in it for the challenge and fun.
The course was very flat and the marshals did an excellent job of controlling the traffic.
Being part of the school fate made it great for families, with lovely kids races at the end.
The friendliest race I have ever entered.
