In short: 1st time there, hopefully not my last. In full: Great event - a good, flat course with a couple of places where you can see the other runners coming the other way. Pleased Havant AC have brought this event back. Excellent marshals who stood out in the rain & being so suportive - thanks. Date of review: December 1, 2009

In short: Very very windy, but still I enjoyed it! In full: I was very pleased to manage to get to 4 miles before the heavens opened! Then it was rain and wind the whole way, which made for a very interesting run.
Great marshalls cheering people on and good signs throughout.
Interesting course as well, shame about the hailstones!
Couple of thoughts though - no clear finish line? Also not obvious where post run drinks were and could have done with something more than water - squash perhaps? Date of review: November 30, 2009

In short: Oh I do like to be beside the seaside. In full: A lovely course and I will be back to run it next year – lets hope it’s not such a blustery day! I spent the first few miles pussy footing around the puddles in the vain attempt to keep my feet warm and dry, what a waste of time that was! No one at the funfair, no one on the golf course, no one walking dogs or sailing on The Solent, just a few hardy friends and family watching and some very wet but enthusiastic marshals – are we runners mad? I actually enjoyed the experience and the organisers did a great job. I was particularly grateful to be able to dry off in the community centre afterwards

In short: Perfect! In full: A fantastic new course, and but for the weather, a definte pb potential with long flat straights, with (if you've got time) wonderful views. Good organisation. Well done. Date of review: November 30, 2009

In short: A good flat race made very hard by the weather... In full: Well done to Havant AC on getting the Hayling 10 back again. I suspect a lot of work has gone in and the new route, coupled with the 10 AM start, seemed to work ok. The weather, totally out of the organisers hands of course, made things very challenging, especially for the slower runners (myself included) who suffered the hail/wind/horizontal rain for quite a long time, and it made the long trek down the sea-front and then back pretty hard. At one point just before the end a gust of wind actually stopped two girls in their tracks in front of me! Organizationally it was well done and I am very grateful to all the marshalls who turned out and helped and also to the supporters on a day for warm log fires, not standing around in the cold. One serious gripe (I always seem to find one!) - one one water station in 10 miles? Not good and on a warmer day could have been a problem. I would have had one at the old station and one on the sea front (perhaps just after we turned of the road). Other than that well done Havant and we will probably be back next year... In short: Should change the spelling to Hailing Island! In full: Very fast and flat course, i can't remember one incline! Weather was terrible though, horizontal hail stones for, pretty much, 3 miles whilst i was running. Wind was strong too but i smashed my 10 mile PB by 7 minutes so very happy with the course.
The marshals really deserved most credit today. An outstanding effort from all of them! Great encouragement from all marshals and spectators even though they were getting pelted with wind, rain and hail. Everyone around me were saying what a grand job they did. Thanks Havant AC Date of review: November 29, 2009

In short: Wet and windy In full: Nice flat course, with real PB potential without the wind and horizontal rain! I can only remember two miles with the wind behind - can't be right on a 10 mile course!? Marshalls were excellent despite the horrendous conditions. Date of review: November 29, 2009

In short: Heaven and Hail at Hayling Island. In full: I thought it would be a windy one when my car door opened at a great rate or knotts upon parking at the venue, which was duly closed again as the rain lashed down once more...
Venturing out a little later on, I found that the start was not too far away and there was a good field of runners already assembled for the off. The course was very well marshalled and signposted and could have just been the wind (which came at us from all angles, mainly the side and the front) or the rain and hailstones (which caught us a couple of miles in and near the finish of the race) which stopped me from spotting the mile markers, so there was a frantic sprint to the finish from me!..
After all is said and done, the views out to sea were fantastic and even the drive in over the bridge to the island was very dramatic with the white horses etc. The marshalls remained cheery in horrendous conditions, but my first words to my running friend were ‘that was fantastic, I really enjoyed that’. Say no more… Oh and by the way, he said the same thing.
Well done to Havant AC for this memorable run and to all the marshalls and supporters.
