In short: Awesome off road race
In full: Ran it once before in 2002 and said I'd never do it "ever again". Glad I did though - it was brilliant. Great marshalls and proper mud.

In short: Very muddy, very wet, tremendous fun
In full: Gave the main race a miss this year and attempted the 10k, good fun and I had an enjoyable afternoon cheering on the runners in the main race, observed some fantastic running and most people had a smile on their face

In short: A true off road challenge for everyone
In full: Train timings seemed to be different from last year (faster out but with longer stops). Missed out by 35 seconds so will be back next year to beat it, once and for all!!! Chip timings are great as results posted straight away, just wish the website was updated quicker. Overall i love this event and will be back year after year.

In short: Unique and the Main Race is definitely challenging.
In full: 4th time I've run it, twice in blazing sun and twice in rain and mud. Does that say it all? Delighted to have persuaded 8 others from my club to run this year (mostly faster than me). We'll be back!

In short: Hard as nails - fantastic experience
In full: Moan out of the way first. The organisation was poor, right down to the last, upsetting detail, that I bought a programme to see my name listed...and they got that wrong...no matter how hard I tried to get hold of the organisers (race organiser with mobile phone constantly switched off?!?)

That aside this is a must do event. The conditions added to the experience (although I reckon the second train was in my sights if the course was dry and little more runnable).

In short: Nuts in August
In full: Got to be ready for the tough and rough of mother nature and the extra man made barriers.Really this is it you against the elements.Mud, rain, streams, bogs, ploughed fields, water jumps. The mountain goat paths, slippery rock climbs and falls it has even got some little bits where, you can run!.Not to mention the steam train to race against.Great tented venue, hot food vegi curry! late bar its got the lot really.A variety of races are available so my comments are geared towards the main 14.75 Mile race. A must do event if you run.See you next year!
