In short: A lovely village race :) In full: I really enjoyed this race. Well organised and no problems on the day (onsite parking, minimal queues for race numbers and toilets!) The whole thing had a family atmosphere that made it more of an event than a hardcore race, so I didn't feel out of place plodding along towards the back.
The course itself was challenging - a few sneaky hills - but interesting terrain (grass, road and trail) and some lovely country views, plus it was well marshalled/signposted with 2 water stations along the route.
It was nice to have lots of spectators at the finish (and not just for the front runners) and the water bottle memento and banana were a nice touch.
I think the BBQ and bouncy castle went down well with those not running, plus the kids fun run later on meant people wanted to hang around.
Overall, a really enjoyable race/morning out. Thanks to all the organisers and sponsors - will definitely be back next year. Date of review: September 19, 2010
In short: For a first time cross country event this was fun! In full: I really enjoyed this one. It was quite a fast and furious start but once the race settled there were still plenty of people around me. One narrow bit that slowed me a bit, but otherwise room to overtake (and be overtaken!). Some good hills, mixed surface, lovely marshalls and altogether as smoothly run as a baby's bottom. Thumbs up. Date of review: November 7, 2009
In short: My first 10k and I really enjoyed it, as did my friends who came to support me. I was a bit puzzled to see the clock saying 7:03 when I finished, but apparently it had gone wrong. I assume I didn't go through a time warp or go to sleep for a while Date of review: September 28, 2009
In short: Great cross country course on mixed terrain In full: I liked the fact that there were no roads or pavements at all. The course was challenging, was it just me or was there more uphill than down? The bananas were well appreciated! I did actually get a PB not sure how though as it was a challenging course! In short: hard race with some narrow tracks and steep hills In full: Well organised and friendly race. Narrow tracks and steep hills, especially the one on entering the woods. Plenty for the non runners to do apparently. Date of review: September 27, 2009
In short: Good Cross Country race, Trackways were a bit narrow for overtaking, but nice free bananas and food stall. In full: Lovely sunny day, good forset senery, was hard to overtake runners on narrow trackways, and paths churned up saw a few runners taken down with twisted ankles but was cross country. overall was friendly and would recomemd to do it again, but this time start further up field as not get stuck behind people.
