In short: Fun in the woods In full: A good, challenging but not lung-ripping course, with some hills and time for recovery in between. Well organised plus a medal and t-shirt at the end. Date of review: October 20, 2012
In short: A nice jog in the woods In full: Gorgeous setting, with the beeches all in their autumnal colours. Nice little low-key event, this one: turn up, get your number and run. The friendly and helpful staff and slightly shambolic atmosphere all add to the charm. Haven't done this one for a few years so good to rediscover it and will try to do it again. In short: Testing trail run, good marshalls, fantastic scenery, Its tough but a good winter run In full: This race is good for all levels and is well organised. It is testing but worthwhile. good parking and toilet facilities, Also a god cafe on site. Date of review: September 11, 2012
In short: Great off-road run with a few mild hills set in beautiful scenery. In full: Warm and friendly atmosphere inviting you into that running spirit. The organisation seemed slick and faultless. Marshalls and spectators gave plenty of support and encouragement throughout the race. Decent goodie bag to finish - especially the free hot drink from the cafe.
The only negative (I think somebody else has mentioned) was the run-off at the finish. You crossed the line and the medal was around your neck in 3 steps. Not much room if you're on a sprint finish.
Definately recommend to friends and will be doing again next year. Date of review: October 25, 2010
In short: Very pleasant Autumn X/C race In full: Fantastic X/C race, Very nice friendly organisers/marshalls, enjoyable atmosphere,a good to race to bring the whole family and Dog's.Plenty of woodland walks. Date of review: October 24, 2010
In short: Enjoyale yet challenging In full: multi-terrain course in a glorious setting. A few hills but nothing that will kill you! Nice cross country style course, so if your looking for something a little diferent this is it. Not many club runners there so good for beginners.
i was not convinced by the distance markers though, my kilometer splits were all over the place, and if you don't concentrate it is possible to go wrong Date of review: October 24, 2010
In short: My third time. This is my favourite race of the year In full: Gorgeous, gorgeous scenery, a challenging route, excellent organization and plenty of support from friendly marshalls and spectators. Nice medal, proper goody bag at the end and a complimentary hot drink. Perfect. Date of review: October 23, 2010
In short: Very pretty course with some challenging hills - up and down! In full: Arrived at approx 09:15 for a 10:30 start, and the race number desk wasnt quite ready (my only slightly negative point!)... perhaps I'm just too keen!
I actually found the downhill section in the 1st and 6th km tougher than the uphill at 4th and 9th... those tree roots could easily catch you out! Went out rather quicker than planned, but found someone doing a sensible pace, and followed him for the next 7k!
Suggestions - Marshals were a little on the quiet side, and could have done with a longer run-off area behind the finish line - a sprint finish with only about 4 or 5 meters to stop before being presented with your medal was a touch short!
All in all, a fantastic race, and I'll almost certainly be back next year! Date of review: October 23, 2010
