In short: Wow what mud! I never knew it could be so sticky, I lost my trainers 3 times. But what fun and such a sense of achievement when crossing the finish line. I now believe that if I can run this I can complete Brighton marathon. Thank you all so much! Date of review: January 26, 2010
In short: I rearranged other commitments to be here, and was not diappointed. In full: In 2009, I wrote: 2009 was the wettest, muddiest year I can remember (I've started the race 13 times) - there's nothing better than being able to stomp through puddles without a care in the world, and the chance to hold hands with some attractive ladies to prevent them from falling over was an added bonus.
2010 was even muddier - the company was even better, but please, don't tell everyone about this race as they will all want to do it... Date of review: January 26, 2010
In short: Mud glorious mud, more mud, water, mud...great fun In full: I'm going to wear more suitable footwear next year (welly boots). Good atmosphere, well organised and great support from the marshalls. See you next year. Date of review: January 25, 2010
In short: Superb race In full: Top notch event. Benfleet has a reputation as a very well-run club and this race didn't disappoint. Was really muddy, but that just added to the fun. Superbly marshalled - special mention to TracyB who was enthusiastic throughout. Special thanks to Karl for a brilliant event.

In short: The sign in the sports hall said it all "If you cannot swim don't start this race". In full: I have been reduced to a gibbering wreck...not sure where it all went wrong...possibly the water jump at the first stile and then the near miss as I slid into a barbed wire fence, I didn't think there could be so many different kinds of mud until I took part in this event, but having fallen four times I think am pretty familiar with Hadleigh Downs. Favourite moment was coming across the sign that said "Keep to footpath, crop field" but you couldnt see where the field ended and the footpath began. All in all a really good race and I look forward to coming back next year.
Well done Benfleet for great organisation and the superb support and encouragement from the Marshalls.
