In short: Called a challenge and it is a challenge. In full: Fairly new to runner and races and have enjoyed some multi terrain events in the past. Had an idea that this would be hilly so made sure we put in some extra hills in training. To be honest it would be difficult to fully prepare yourself for this one, glad i was unsure of the route as this ,may have put me off. but on a whole i enjoyed it, it was tough especially if your over 15 stone like myself. Will i do it again, will the beast ever get beat.... I'll be back.. Date of review: May 28, 2008
In short: This race is like a Spinal Tap amplifier - Goes to Eleven In full: The PB Potential rating doesn't go negative sadly. Naturally multi-terrain and exact mileage aren't really bedfellows but approximate mile markers would be good next time (and there will be eleven of them :-)). More frequent yellow arrows on the ground just to reassure you that you are still on track would be nice too. Great morning out. Date of review: May 20, 2008
In short: Hard,Challenging and great stuff! In full: This is a run if you fancy a challenge, and a challenge is what you`ll get.Great views, bright sunshine and good variety of terrain.the first hill was a continual joy but once you beat it its the wind in your hair til the next sharp climb,up and over to the trig point and a run into the end through the lane and forestry. If you want to bite off more than you can chew, bite this you`ll love it ! In short: Tough hilly challenge with glorious scenery In full: Few errors in marshaling and measurement but it was the first running and the organizers acknowledged the problems. A tough run with some sapping climbs, shame you only get a quick panoramic view as you loop the trig point on the top of Machen mountain. Date of review: May 20, 2008
In short: 10 miles? you're having a larf! In full: Fab run, but sooo tough! We ran uphill for so long, and so far, I couldnt imagine how I was ever going to get back home. Distance is definately more than 10. More like 11.5 miles. But hey ho, it's done now, and it was a challenge I will undertake again next year. Date of review: May 19, 2008
In short: thrill to the pure enjoyment of running - off road and off course! In full: An excellent race - hard but enjoyable - thrill to the pure enjoyment of running - off road and off course! Date of review: May 19, 2008
In short: Really tough - but really fun. In full: Forget PBs, splits, schedules etc. This is purely for those who want to challenge themselves, take on the course, and enjoy hard running just for the pure hell of it. All types of terrain, continuous up and down hills of varying steepness and a bonus mile or so.
(Could do with an extra marshall or two - but they already know that and will address for next year.) Date of review: May 18, 2008
