In short: I still like it
In full: Third year that I have run this and I still like it. Not sure why some reviews are so angry about not being "flat" - The notes said there was a hill, and I was expecting it and quite enjoyed it!
Plus - I drove away quickly (thankfully I left the bags in the car so no baggage problems like some other runners which must have been terrible) and I was heading south on the M1 within ten minutes of crossing the line.
I like the scenary - the lake, the villages,
I was good to be in the warm of the Xcape until just before the start.
Minus - No lucozade, I was expecting perhaps one halfway. The start seemed disorganised with the 10K being summoned over the tannoy to make their way to the front.
But I will be back next year, so long as they arrange for the glorious Spring sunshine we had.

In short: Not a bad race - but could improve.
In full: This is the second time I've done this race following the 2008 one and this time the route had changed meaning a steeper climb on the final 1.5 mile stretch - which wasn't pleasant!

Wasn't much going on considering it was billed as a 'festival of running' - no real major support from NIKE and only getting a medal for the entry fee was pretty woeful. The start was also chaos as there were no timing pens or anything to separate the quicker and slower runners - took me ages to work my way through the crowds.
On the plus side, the marshalls were good, the water stations were stocked well and the weather was great. The course was partly scenic around the lakes too and I did end up with an unexpected PB which was good prep for the VLM.

In short: could have been a nice medium sized race if they had got the bagagge area right
In full: scenery wise, MK is far from being a pretty place, running alongside motorways up and down underpasses is not great, but still .. as a one off thing, doable. The bagagge area was a shambles, never seen anything like it. Having to wait 45 mins till some well intended ladies and some boys from the army find your bag, it's an experience I would like to forget, that said I didn't mention how long it took to actually make the front of the queue, so for the organizers I think there is a lot to think about next time when the subject is baggage, and that doesn't mean writing a big paraghraph apologizing the f* up on the main page after the event.

In short: Good race, some little gripes...
In full: Start the 10k 30 mins before the half so they dont merge. Mile markers were excellent. Results quick to go up. Good new venue - you could hide in the warm until the last minute. Killer last mile uphill. Good experience, will probably opt for a different one next year though...

In short: Ran the 10k, not fast and flat, too tight in places
In full: lots of posts about the 10k start and I agree with them. I was running at 7.5min miles and happy at that, swamped by marathon runners at about 2miles, just when the route became tight. Greater time needs to be allowed to get away. or all start on mass, but have timing pens, so same paced runners together irrespective of overall distance. i.e 1hr marathons in with 30min 10kers. Organisation was bonkers at the start, couldn't hear the annoucments until stood next to it. I didn't use the baggae, left it in my car (thought lots would have done also). Potential for this to be a cracking event. Just needs the odd tweek. Oh and a bit of grub at the finish is pretty standard lads (especially at this price).

In short: Disappointing is not the word!
In full: Couldn't believe that such a large well supported race could be such a disaster - A lot to be learnt from similar sized events. Waiting times for timing chips and baggage was inexcusable. Course was ok, but hill in the last mile wasn't fantastic.

In short: Good PB potential race around some of the nicer parts of MK.
In full: I really enjoyed this race around MK including some of the nicer villages. Mostly flat for good speed potential apart from the tricky climb in the last mile. Mile markers well visible and plenty of water stations. I have read complaints about the organisation but I had no complaints - it all went like clockwork for me. Xscape centre a good location for the start, no problem parking or getting away and plenty of places to eat afterwards. Weather was absolutely perfect. All round, a great experience.
