In short: Brilliant organisation and a nicely challenging course In full: First race of the year and fourth time back To Blackmore Vale. Everything about it is highly commended - tea and cakes, 100+ volunteer marshalls, plenty of drinks and an 800ft + elevated climb. Thanks and hope to be back next year. In short: Excellent training run In full: Entered this as a training run for a longer event next month but competitiveness got the better of me-my mistake! Nearly all up or down with that killer hill at the end. Saw the 13 mile marker and we were still climbing. Great organisation, at least 6 drinks stations-I lost count, and tea and cakes at the finish. Compact race village with little or no journey from car park to start. Well done Lions International. Some of the bigger organisatiions should look to this as their bench mark for professionalism. In short: TOUGH BUT UPLIFTING In full: This was my first time, and my second Half after New Forest last year. It was really tough. Hill after hill, which has always been my weakness. Having said that,I really enjoyed it, as you cannot beat the euphoria of getting to the top of each incline. The last hill was a killer though. Really cruel! I improved by New Forest time, and am looking forward to Lytchett now. Very nice people organising and superb location in rural Dorset shows how lucky I am to live here. In short: Can't do better for a tenner! In full: Course is a good undulating challenge, with the last mile being very cruel to a middle-aged man! Well organised, lots of water-stations (plastic-cups), traffic not a problem, nice cake available...free parking (well played the cheerful car-park boys)..good cause..you get the idea
Very limited space for changing etc ...
I must quite like it, that is my 3rd in a row. I would recommend it. Date of review: February 3, 2013
In short: A well ran scenic course with a sting in the tail In full: Well organised event with a fast challenging course but a nasty little hill at the finish. My family enjoyed the refreshments and cake on a cold winters day. One small issue not enough gents toilets, huge cue with 15 mins left to the start. Date of review: February 7, 2012
In short: Quiet roads and no flat parts In full: Amazing number of drink stations, great support from marshals excellent value, my first road race for a while and thoroughly enjoyed it Date of review: February 12, 2011
