In short: Fabulous comradery, epic scenery and wouldn't miss it next year! In full: Fantastic for everything, brutal hills. But if you walk or run it, so much support, fancy dress is truly essential. What a run though. Wonderful. Date of review: January 1, 2017
In short: Best race of the year so far!! In full: Excellent race as always. Tough as you like, with serious up hills and down dales, you can really go for it or not ! Superbly organised as usual. Funny smell at the start, not down to the race organiser, maybe the National Trust? Brilliant fancy dress costumes and Marshalls cheering everyone on.This race has to be on your bucket list... Big thanks to Dr Rob and all the Marshalls without which the race wouldn't be possible. Date of review: January 1, 2017
In short: It's a bit cheeky! In full: Without doubt the most fun you can have with your running cloths on (or fancy dress). Well organised, outstanding scenery, mud, ridiculously steep hills, more steps than you can shake a stick at, fancy dress, stepping stones, more mud, soup, cheese and pickle rolls, great support from everyone including the new years day walkers and a rendition of the national anthem, what's not to like! There's only one way to start the new year and that's with cracked knackers! Date of review: January 1, 2017
In short: Brilliant as ever! In full: As the lady I was chatting to in the car park said "you see a Trionium race and you know it's going to be good."
Possibly not the most sensible race ever: I should have heeded the encouragement for fancy dress. Steep, challenging, how someone got round in under an hour is beyond me. This is not a fast race unless you are a seasoned fell runner. It is fun, there is ample opportunity to walk the steep bits, the marshals are very encouraging, there is soup at the end of it all (and carrots. And I love a post race carrot).
My glutes are telling me all about how they feel. I don't care. I'll be back next year. Date of review: January 1, 2017
In short: Hard but fun; you must dress up! In full: Unless you are seriously fast then just dress up and enjoy this race! Five hills this year made it really touch but it's lovely scenery and there's something about starting your new year chasing a parrot round Box Hill! There was plenty of water and jaffa cakes on course and the marshalls were all fab. The only negative was they ran out of tomato soup before I finished :( Plenty of cheese rolls though :) Date of review: January 1, 2017
In short: My great eccentric wife says it is a great eccentric run, who's to argue. In full: I know it's a bit late but this race takes a while to recover from, especially with extra hills. Think this was my 7th and it gets better each year, it does I don't. Can't blame the long flowing locks of my fancy dress, more the fact it is mud, incessant inclines and declines, rocks, chalk, stiles, cow pats and more mud, but must not forget the Piper, the Jaffa cakes, the Marshalls and the fab soup. And now it's called a fell race, fantastic! Date of review: January 17, 2016
