In short: Once again the run proves the best In full: Great village atmosphere despite the occasional rain. The fun runs were enjoyed by the kids and the race was excellent, with a PB for me. This is always a good event as is proven by the ever increasing number of entries (over 520 runners this year for the main event). There is something for the none runners too with burgers and a childrens area. Will defintely be back next year. Date of review: May 8, 2011
In short: Friendly village feel In full: I loved this race! We were blessed with gorgeous, almost perfect, running weather which undoubtedly helped the classic English countryside location to look its absolute best - but even so the luxury of running down beautiful country roads with not a car in sight put a permanent smile on my face.
I thought the course was great - a few moderate hills (but tempered with corresponding downhills).
The friendly, village atmosphere was lovely - this really felt like a proper community event.
Only slight gripes would be queues for ladies toilets (although it has to be said this is a common issue) and lack of a medal/T-shirt to commemorate completion of the distance - instead we were presented with Lloyds TSB-branded baseball caps (I can't have been the only one left wondering if, as a taxpayer, I'd indirectly funded my own hat).
Re: previous reviewers' comments on numbers - I was lucky enough to get a place on the day but had arrived soon after the registration desk opened (09:30). To be fair the race website does warn that this is a popular event which reached capacity prior to race day last year. I can totally understand frustrations over not being able to leave car park after failing to secure a place - but again, to be fair, this is surely for the safety of competitors.
Will definitely be back (if I can get a place)! Date of review: May 13, 2010
In short: Numbers In full: Once in the car park no possibility to get out but race full at least 45 min before start. However with 5 mins to go there were at least 30 uncollected numbers on the table but organisers would not take money for or release them to the few people standing around waiting. So they joined a group of others who had decided to run it anyway. Date of review: May 10, 2010
In short: Very Friendly and organised. In full: Great race. Well organised. Will do again to see if I can beat my time. Hillier than I thought, but still great. My Girls enjoyed their race too. Very family friendly. A medal would definately be better for next year, as I can't really add the cap to my collection. I've got nothing to say I did it! See you next year. In short: Superb, friendly race. Great atmosphere. In full: I always enjoy this race. The organisation is superb and it has such a welcoming and warm atmosphere. Thanks very much to the organisers and marshalls. One comment: next year, can we have a medal as a momento please rather than the rather grotty hat we got this year? Date of review: May 9, 2010
