In short: Fast, Flat, Friendly In full: Well organised. Clearly posted route. Great marshals plenty of water stations. One of the best looking medals I've got from a race and you get a t-shirt too! What more can you ask for. Well done Nice Work Date of review: March 12, 2014
In short: Well done Nice Work! In full: A really enjoyable half marathon. Very good organisation, friendly atmosphere and a decent route. It has bundles of PB potential but somehow all my PB's are on undulating runs. Great medal and decent shirt. Thanks to all the supportive stewards. Marvellous weather.
Only part I disliked was at about 6 miles there is a run around a cone, not into that, but I understand the reasons why!
In short: Wat a medal ! In full: This was my 3rd time but I struggled for whatever reason(not a fast runner anyway)maybe heat, too many jelly tots, that extra banana- who knows ?? BUT medal splendiferous, t-shirt-WOW and I enjoyed it as always, will definitely do it again next year (but I wont drink the lemon and mint fizzy water yuk) Date of review: March 11, 2014
In short: Great to see the younsters involved, cubs scouts and brownies. Fantastic weather and smooth course bar a few pot-holes from the dreadful wet winter and a few miles of rough surface. I was a race chair entry and was very pleased to get a pb. Date of review: March 11, 2014
In short: well organised and fast, flat course In full: Clearly the organisers have responded to the feedback from previous year's as the medal this year was one of the best I have ever seen (and I'm not usually bothered about a medal). Pot holes were not a problem. Course was virtually traffic free. Lacked support but that isnt't the organisers fault. Date of review: March 11, 2014
In short: Great race for runners and supporters In full: This is the first time I've run this race and although it didn't go to plan in terms of my time (unlike for most people who get a PB) I did enjoy it.
I was at the back for a lot of it and if you prefer to be in a race with a lot of people but you're not very fast this is something to consider as you will be either on your own or in a very small group for a lot of the race.
The course itself was good, the lanes were wide enough that you didn't feel cramped when being over taken and had sections where the hedges were high enough to provide a bit of shade to cool you down. When cars were passing the runners helped each other out by shouting 'car', this was not too often so didn't really have an impact on the race. From mile 5-7 the course is a bit more rough with pot holes and stones but didn't cause any problems. If like me you were struggling a bit the fact that I could see the finish line with 3 miles to go was not very motivating but I'm sure if you're on for a good time it would be!
The best part of this race though has to be the people who organise it, there is a clear passion for the event from everyone involved and they just what volunteers should be - I even saw someone wearing a Sport Maker t-shirt which proves the Olympic Legacy of volunteering lives on!! I must also mention the water girls who also clearly enjoyed trying to get the runners to pick them to take water from :)
All in all a very good race and with the lovely weather I couldn't fault it. Date of review: March 10, 2014
In short: Great for a PB providing the weather is good, open to the elements across the Romney marsh In full: Personally a great race for me, 3rd time for me this year and a PB every time. A few pot holes at about 6 miles on a single track course but didn't slow me down. Good level of marshalling and water stations. I do like the U-turn at about 5 miles where you see the runners behind you coming towards you, a nice touch. Date of review: March 10, 2014
In short: Fun, friendly and flat! In full: I've run this twice now and really enjoyed both times. It's a great flat course and the organisation is excellent. It's not that well supported but I quite enjoy the fact that some of it is nice and quiet. Everyone involved in the organisation is incredibly friendly. Date of review: March 10, 2014
