In short: Need to sort out the baggage point but a great Sunday morning In full: With a city event as large as this as long as you are not expecting a PB and are there to just enjoy it then you wont be disapointed. Date of review: June 24, 2013
In short: Well-organised mass-participation In full: My home fixture, and as a Vet 65 pleased to run for the 4th time and do a PB. Wave start and pens worked OK: very few slower runners around me, so soon Into the rhythm. Great support from public and specifically from Southville RC members . Finish arrangements excellent, nice medal and T-shirt, sad goody bag. Date of review: May 10, 2013
In short: Excellent well organised mass participation event In full: This was my third year of running this event and it just gets better each year. Regarding some of the negative comments about people being in the way of so called faster runners, what do you expect for such a large field, people to get out of the way for you? I saw a marshall remove someone from the yellow pen who had a red number & the organisers rely on people being realistic about there anticipated times. Rant over, this race has something for runners of every ability and I will be back again next year for sure. Date of review: May 9, 2013
In short: great for a fun runner In full: As someone else has already pointed out, the start pens were a joke. I started someway into the sub 40 pen thinking that only semi decent runners would start that far down. However, i spent the first mile navigating my way around people who would have been lucky to have finished in 45 minutes. It spoilt the event for me as i lost too much time in this period to get near the time i wanted.
In terms of other aspects, a good flat route and fantastic support whole way around. Decent quality medal and technical t shirt, though lack of anykind of food in goody bag was a minus. Date of review: May 8, 2013
In short: Great first race In full: Loved it. The scenery isn't great but hay it's a city centre what do you expect. Lovely t-shirt and medal at the end. The crowd and stewards were fantastic booked my next race the day after :) Date of review: May 7, 2013
In short: Another year another well organised fast race In full: Yet again the organisers did a good job. Better this year in so far as the only incline (slip road to get over A4) was in first 2K rather than at 7K. Crowds in centre were brilliant which always makes for a superb finish Date of review: May 7, 2013
In short: Excellent organised race - well worth doing In full: First time I've run the Bristol 10k and really enjoyed it. Was in wave 1 and it seemed well organised and worked well. Course was nice and the crowds all the way around were really encouraging! Definitely looking to run this again next year.. Date of review: May 7, 2013
In short: Good city 10k with discounted price for local club runners softening the blow of the cost In full: Third time at this race and organisation was good all the way through, with no repeat of the baggage store issues of last year. Race tee shirt really disappointing shape / fit, waste of time. Mugs in future please! Date of review: May 7, 2013
In short: Good race, but has issues In full: The good: Flat, fast, good atmosphere
The bad: Pens need sorting out. Having worked very hard of late to get a sub 40 time recently, I was disappointed to see the "Sub 40" section containing people dressed as Wallace and Gromit, several people in banana suits and many people who started walking after 400m.
The Ugly: I'm well aware if you want a fast time, it's often better to avoid mass participation events like this, but last year I thought things were smoother.
Still enjoyed it though!! Date of review: May 5, 2013
In short: A good city event, though better crowd control is needed now it's so big. In full: I do this one as its my home city and we enter a team from work in the business challenge. It's great in the lead up to the event. Lots of banter at work and raising money for charity. However, it's not one I ever actually enjoy running anymore. The start is now a huge bun fight as unaware slower runners become awkward obstacles to avoid in the narrow channels. I har a teenager wearing surf shorts and converse come to a complete stop after 200 metres, I'd started in the sub 40 section and I really can't imagine what he thought he was doing there. I don't know if the marshals can ever find a way to sort out that sort of nonsense . On the plus side, it was great to meet up with colleagues for cake and a drink after. Just as well we did as goody bag was just paper. Having paid £25 entry a banana or flapjack would be nice. Date of review: May 5, 2013
