In short: A great day and more fun than I thought 56 miles would be! In full: It was a brilliant race and everything went like clockwork on the day, obviously helped that the weather was perfect. Great scenery throughout the day and great atmosphere between all the runners. I'd definitely recommend recee trips to get to know the route as there is a lot of potential to get lost. On the organisation front, all fine on the day but not exactly the finest stocked checkpoints and the pre-race help/info was dreadful. They are not very good at responding to queries and questions from participants.
I've put it as one of my all time favourite races as it is my first ultra and it was brilliant. Date of review: September 14, 2010

In short: Great race. First ultra for me but the navigation rather than the distance was the hard part! Well organised and very helpful competitors made it a tremendous day. In full: Make sure you can read a map! Really enjoyed the day, and the weather certainly helped. Terrain was varied but always manageable. 5 checkpoints along the way were all well-staffed and resourced - made it easier than carrying lots of liquid. Date of review: September 12, 2010

In short: Great race with an amazing atmosphere. In full: Fantastic day due to the great friendly atmosphere amongst the competitors and helped by the almost-perfect weather even down to a light rain shower to cool us off.
I never thought that I would enjoy running 56 miles so much! Date of review: September 6, 2010

In short: One of the True Greats: a really inspiring and challenging off-road ultra. Organisation was great, weather in '09 was glorious (though in '08 it was,er, challenging!). Great organisation and ever-friendly vibe Date of review: January 26, 2010

In short: Excellent race - but don't attempt unless you are reasonably confident of completing within the 13 hour deadline In full: This is one of my favourite races. A real challenge to navigate your way from London to Brighton. It is not for the faint hearted and some of the navigation was incredibly difficult (as woodland often is!).
The support at the checkpoints and from fellow runners was great.
My only criticism (sadly a very sriuous one) was the lack of concern /care for late runners.
We only just got inside the 13 hour time limit, but several runners who we'd run with during the day were left out on the course and the organisers gave the impression that it was not their problem. Any organisers have a duty of care to all of the people running their race and this was sadly lacking at the finish. Perhaps they should be stricter on enforcing the cut-off points. It wasn't helped by the fact that the last leg was longer than advertised.
I know it was a very long day for everyone involved in organising the event and I greatly appreciate the effort and thank you all for that.
You have a great race but please think again about your management of late finishers. Date of review: September 23, 2009

In short: Superb and seriously enjoyable but challenging course In full: Extreme running did a superb job pulling this race together and as long as you do a bit of preparation on map reading and get involved in the supportive atmosphere all around you, a great day can be had and one that can potentially mark as the highlight of your running ambitions! Stunning and beautiful countryside and very helpful caring and encouraging marshalling throughout!! Date of review: September 22, 2009
