In short: Great Event. Will be back In full: A great event which balanced very nicely between feeling like quite a big race, but with the atmosphere of a small and friendly event.
Great facilities, loads of free car parking very close to the HQ and the HQ was very close to the start line so getting sorted before the race was all very easy. Communication leading up to the event was excellent, with regular emails and updates via facebook - including photos and info about conditions and the potential hazards on the course.
Love the bright orange technical T-shirt and the voucher for a free warm drink was very, very welcome after a hard race on a blustery day. There was quite a tough section between miles 6-9 which was pretty much all uphill and on the day it was into a strong headwind. I think without the wind, it could easily have been a PB course, but conditions put a stop to that. You have to accept that you may well get anything in February though.. and for us this year, it was wind!
Definitely will be back for another crack at it in the future.
In short: Well organised, good route, great race; just a hiccup with numbers! In full: not sure why chips weren't put in envelopes with race numbers, but that's a lesson learned....
Otherwise, a lovey race, good countryside scenic route and starting in view of the magnificent Officers' Mess at RAF Cranwell - a sight also seen towards the finish as a beacon of hope (i.e. hoping to reach it again!)
Good t-shirt, awesome support, no chance of a PB this time! Date of review: February 24, 2014
In short: Excellent 1/2 In full: Did this last year for the first time and came back because it was well organised, easy to get to and fits well into London training. This year was no different although the wind blew any thoughts of a fast time away. The race HQ sits in RAF Cranwell and has marvelous views across the last half mile of the race - so if you are waiting for friends to finish you can stay warm with your finishers cuppa. In short: Windy but worth the challenge. Well organised In full: A great race again. Windy conditions made it a real challenge but all runners seemed to respond to the challenge. Facilities were great for a Winter half as you could get inside before and after. collection of numbers caused some delay but this I am sure will be sorted for next year. A must do half marathon for the start of the year Date of review: February 24, 2014
In short: Lovely Lincolnshire countryside, well-organised - very windy on the day. In full: I liked the feel of this small event (just under 600 runners on the day). The communication beforehand was good - even going so far as to post "state of the course" pictures the day before on Facebook. It was my third half marathon and I found it tough going but this was mainly due to the very windy conditions which probably affected about half of the course. Lots of friendly support from volunteers and three water stations. I appreciated the free cup of tea and the technical t-shirt as they had the right size for me (not always the case at other races where the shirt has been too big). Date of review: February 24, 2014
