In short: The hardest race I have ever 'run' In full: Nothing prepared me for the weight of the pack (well, training might have, but hey ho) but what a race. It's been a while since I didn't know if i'd ever finish an event and the mental effort of just keeping moving was really tough. The logic of wearing trousers and boots became apparent after I saw people fall over in shorts. Ouch. I can't think what else to say - you just have to do this event!! In short: tough but fabulous In full: Never been so nervous before a race but this was BRILLIANT. It was challenging and tough but I will be back next year - raised stacks of money for Help for Heroes. LOVED IT. Date of review: September 15, 2009

In short: DO THIS RACE! In full: You will not regret it!
I dont think I have ever enjoyed an event as much as this one. Unique opportunity to run the Paras course, fantastic atmosphere from start to finish and its not often you do a race with views of burned out tanks and camouflaged Paratroopers in the undergrowth for spectators!
The long slow hills are a real tough challenge, whlst the near vetical scrambles end up just being a laugh! Water obstacle was surprisingly refreshing and the support of the crowd on the finish straight was brilliant.
I cannot recommend this event highly enough. If you are reading this its probably because you are considering doing it in 2010 - stop hesitating and enter the best race you'll ever do! Date of review: September 14, 2009

In short: GReat Race, Great Cause, shame no different medals for the Hard Core P Company challenge though, and not enough organisation at the start to ensure all were equiped correctly. Date of review: September 14, 2009

In short: Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! In full: Iam aching as if i have run a marathon, its a race that is a must do if you like a challenge i did the Boots and Bergen P Company challenge option, and for an Essex boy i found it very hilly but the buz you get at 8 miles when you can hear the cheering crowds at the finish is amazing.the last two hills are killers but short as they are steep when you get to the top its a great moment.and the water ditch is hilarious. Great Medal O.k T shirt and all for a fantastic cause.Well done P company and all the marshalls on the day espescially the para you helped fix my rucksack at mile 4. In short: Awesome fun - got to be on your list of 'must do races' In full: This was a departure from my usual Road races but I loved every mud, sweat & tears soaked minute of it! And it's not every day you get tha chance to run on a Paras course is it!! It wasn't easy by any stretch but it is do-able. All off road, mostly loose gravel terrain which can make steep ascents / descents a little tricky underfoot and quite a few catlegrids to negotiate. Notable hills are at miles 3, 5 and 6 and then two particularly steep ones just before and just after 8 miles (deperated by an energy draining water pit to run through!). Whilst the hills are steep, they are fairly short but will slow you down to a crawl.
Therefore I thought I wouldn't be on for a good time, but was amazed to come home in 89th place, and I got a time I'm very pleased with to the extent I was startimng to wonder if the 10 miles was a little over estimated? I did opt to do the standard run - might save the 35lb Bergen & boots challenge for next year?
The course is very well marshalled so you can't take a wrong turn, and the scenery of the rolling countryside provides a good distraction from the lungs burtsing out of your body!
The medal at the finish is now one of my favourites - something rather special. The goody bag is nothing spectaular, but considering the entry fee was for the Help for Heroes charity, I'm not complaining.
I would thoroughly recommend this race as it's something a little different and special from 'normal' races.
