In short: Organisation Failure
In full: I've done many of these races esp the 2:09 events and all I have raved about. Today however something went slightly wrong for some. I chatted to many who had either been sent the wrong way or had lost the markers. I suffered with a group mid-race and it seemed to cost about a mile. There was a significant lack of Marshall's or sensible drinking stations - c'mon guys, you used to hand out bottles, no runner want's to cough up £25 to be handed two plastic cups of water.

An earlier comment by another runner blamed the course issues on silly runners who blindly follow like sheep - very helpful, I wish I was so perfect.

Great course with some wonderful challenges just let down by what seemed to be some petty cost savings by the organisers.

In short: Mud Mud Mud
In full: Had a great time. I didn't think the goody bag and tech top was as good as when i did this race a few years ago.
I know some people got lost and took a massive detour but for me this was there own fault i saw loads of people running straight on but the arrow clearly pointed right. so lesson dont just follow the bloke in front.

In short: A proper trail race!
In full: A fun and friendly race that was well organised and had a decent t-shirt as reward for finishing. Not as muddy as some years after the recent dry weather, but still some waist deep bogs and a water splash to keep you amused!

Marking of the course was very good for most of the race... but markers seemed to go awry at about 8 miles, a completely unmarked section of forest had many runners off course. A minor blemish on an otherwise good race.

In full: Loved the race, very demanding and a good mix of both elite athletes and fun runners looking for a tough challenge.Dryer than expected, even in the bogs and stream crossings. From a fell runners point of view the hills were superb and soon broke up the field. My only criticism was a cadet who sent the first bunch of lead runners off the course. This added about a mile and 15 of us went from the front to the very bacl=k.We then spent several miles trying to overtake about 250 runners, all very frustrating!things came right when I clawed my way back into first lady spot, and the winners prizes were of high value and excellent.great weather, top atmosphers, spot on scenery, a lovely morning out.just brief the marshalls better with a good course map!

In short: Turbo Xtreme it truly was
In full: What would have been a great race was spoilt to some extent by the Marshall who sent us the wrong way. That must have added a mile to the course. Nevertheless the course was seriously hardcore: scrambling up "hills" virtually on all fours at times, knee deep mud, and none existent trails made it all a reall challenge. I run 65 mins for 10 miles on the road but clocked 1:44 today coming a pleasing 18th. Goody bag was fab, can't wait to see the photos!

In short: Muddy, Boggy, Wet, Hilly - Great fun!
In full: Despite being one of the front group taking the wrong (marked!) path after 1 mile and a clamber back onto the route, I think I enjoyed it! The majority of the race was spent trying to get back into position and I don't think I have worked as hard in a race to get a podium finish before. At ~8 miles I was told I was 2 mins behind 3rd lady, that was the incentive I needed as I was struggling to get going again after the turbo zone, I managed to get the third place but was absolutely exhausted at the end. I don't think I have ever run a harder 10 miles. To be repeated? I'm not sure!

In short: what a blast!! and great way to spend a sunday morning
In full: This was my first turbo X but certainly not my last, loved every freezing, mud splashing minute of it even the scrambling up near vertical slippery hillsides, supberbly organised and the marshalls where great.

Definitely not one for a PB, it took me 20mins longer than i estimated!

Shame some of the chosen paths were so narrow as overtaking was near impossible in some places which i found slightly frustrating, although did let me catch my breath, & i was suprised at the amount of ipods, which made it doubly difficult to overtake.

will definitely be doing this race again, in fact i can't wait :)
