In short: If you like a trail and you like a marathon, here's your race!
In full: For me this is a perfect event, it is why I love to run. Fantastic enthusiasm and organisation by Dr Rob and the gang, beautiful scenery (even though it was misty on this occasion) and a few quirks that you could only get with an event of this size. The medal, mug and running top you get at the end are great! And special mention for the ladies who put together a very welcoming breakfast post race, very well received.

In full: This was my first ever marathon, having also completed my first four half marathons this year. Three of which were off road, at the last one I did a group of runners peruaded me to look up this race - Greensands. I think they thought I was to chirpy after The Hurt, some of which has the same ground covered by Greensands.
Their reasoning, that if I undertook the Greensands any marathon I did after would seem a doddle.
I can sufficely say that the course devised by the chap at Trionium certainly made me run my little legs right out of there sockets. Beauutiful climbs, occcasionaly some trecherous descents & left me for desire of wanting it all to be over with six miles left to go. If you've any experience of running a half marathon off road, with lots off hills. And are left feeling like you could've given more. Definately consider this, it made me give more than I ever tnought the total sum of my parts were. Good run.

In short: Fantastic hilly trail marathon
In full: This was our first long distance trail race. My wife and I ran together. It was really tough and that final "little" hill at 25.5 miles an absolute killer! But it was an amazing experience made all the better by brilliant organisation, a well marked trail and lots of water/sweet stops (perhaps not always at the distance suggested in the info!). Best of all were the friendly and encouraging marshals who always seemed to pop up at the most welcome times either to direct or encourage. So well done Dr Rob and all your team. See you all again next year (maybe!!)

In short: Free tea and coffee before the start, tortuous relentless hills, a fantastic finish and a fry up.
In full: I was rather nervous at the thought of this race as I had heard how hard it was, but after a stirring rendition of Jeruselum we were off and all nerves vanished. The hills came and went and then came again with the sight of the ocassional marshal giving me a smile and a few words of encouragement. Then the pain arrived, pushing on the end is in sight, down the grassy slope towards a small crowd of cheering clapping runners and marshals. Quick shower and sit down to a hearty fry up. Cant wait till next year.

In short: A must do race.
In full: Well done to Dr.Rob and all the marshalls. Everything about the race was as good as the sport gets.A testing course, fine views and great atmosphere. The marshalls did a fantastic job and kept us all on the right track along with offering encouragement all the way round.Hats off to all of you. I have never competed in a better value race. Race momentos were first class and as for the breakfast at the end, a stroke of genius. See you all next year.

In short: A real challenge but a great off-road race
In full: Having failed to train properly I decided to run to Leith Hill and turn back rather than miss the race altogether. Think hills, hills and more hills but the atmosphere and scenery more than made up for it. I managed to get myself lost and add a couple of miles, but that was more my own fault than that of the organisers! If you want a challenge then this is a race well worth doing.
