In short: Not a race to gain a PB! In full: Bottle neck at the start and single file only for the first section made the going very slow for those stuck nearer the back of the field, however the drinks station with jelly babies half way round was a welcome site - a good hill to get you going and not too muddy underfoot. Will run again next year, lovely atmosphere & friendly runners/organisers. Date of review: March 18, 2013
In short: An enjoyable, friendly, motivating multi-lap course In full: This race was the first of Northampton Running Festival. A mix of 10k, half marathon and marathon runners which was a bit of a challenge keeping your pace. Unfortunately not enough toilets at the start and there was a bit of a queue.
I was surprised on how much I enjoyed the lap repeats. Everyone was very motivational and friendly supporters throughout the race and the bobble collection was a lot smoother than I expected. Nice T-shirt and medal - would go back next year as good valley for money and only an hour away. Date of review: April 10, 2012
In short: Good scenery - mud, narrow, undulating track in parts In full: Not a course for a PB as it is muddy, narrow in parts and undulating; and mixing 10k, half and full marathon meant lots of passing other runners. Friendly. Only 5 loos so people still queuing at the start. But the fruit cake was truly wonderful - thanks to the cook!! Date of review: April 9, 2012
In short: Was put off by the multi-lap format but it worked really really well. In full: Nice flat course with friendly marshalls. Different terrain made it more interesting than a road race for me. I found the multilap format a real boost - I could count down the 2 mile laps to finish which was mentally better for me than seeing the miles slowly creeping up. Only downside for me was the lack of baggage facilities. You could leave your stuff in the catering tent which I normally would have done but I didn't get the feeling that anybody would be paying attention beyond the half marathon finish. In short: lovely scnic trail run In full: first time doing this run and it was thoroughly enjoyable. i never like doing lap races as i dont like to know what i've got to do again, but apart from a bit of a short sharp climb at the end of each lap this was nice and flat. definitely would come back again and do this! nice cuppa at the end and jelly babies if you wanted them! goood quality t shirt as well! In short: Good Clean Fun! In full: Not much in the way of mud, or mayhem! But it made for a good race. 2 laps of a rather flat course with an incline at the end that seems to go on forever! Great for beginners like me. I imagine it could me a whole lot different had the rains came! Date of review: October 9, 2011
In short: determination is what will get you through In full: Massive thanks to the marshalls and the girl's at the start/finish line who kept me motivated to complete the whole 20k Date of review: June 19, 2011
In short: A great introduction to multi-terrain running In full: I thought this was a great race. Its ran over grass, mud, trail and a little bit of concrete as you circle the Abbey.
I really enjoyed this race and thought it was a crying shame that only 37 people turned out to compete over 10K.
The route was great, the organisers were friendly and organised and the T Shirt was nice. They also had a plasma screen up allowing you to type in your race number and see your official chip time, I thought this was a really nice touch!
You also had the privilege of completing the 10K alongside the triathletes as they finished their race. Watching these guys run was inspiring they are like machines!
I will definitely be running it again next year. Date of review: May 23, 2011
