In short: Race let down by the organisation at the end. In full: Having completed the 26.2km found the end to be depressing. Cold field, no one handing out medals, you had to take them yourself, no congratulations. A warm cup of tea (or indeed any refreshment) would have been appreciated! Luckily my partner collected me from the white water centre next door, so I didn't have to go through the bus fiasco. Date of review: October 29, 2012

In short: great run ruined by non existent organisers In full: This race was a big deal for me as I have never run further than a half marathon before. The race itself was lovely, happy stewards cheering us on who gave me a boost when needed. However the end ruined it for me, a goody bag with 2 brazil nut cereal bars which could kill me and waiting in the cold for over an hour for the 'shuttle buses' until we admitted defeat and went to find a taxi. Poor for spectators too, my husband was shaking with cold when I finished as he had to stand around for 2 hours with nowhere warm to go. So chuffed with my achievement but am now waiting for a refund from the organisers for the shuttle bus tickets Date of review: October 29, 2012

In short: REAL POTENTIAL BUT LET DOWN BY ADMIN In full: I'll start with the positives, the start was well organised and proper toilets at the athletics track almost made the event! The stewards around the course were a chirpy bunch giving good support.
The negatives however, was a dull course on roads through an industrial area, which was ok, if a little boring, however the roads were not actually closed off, which meant you could overtake someone to find yourself head on with a car!!! Once you got off the roads you were in some pleasant countryside and all of it was really flat. There seemed to be something amiss with the km markers as the 11k marker was about 1.5km after the 10k marker, and my final distance covered reflected a longer range than the advertised 13.1km. The finish was shcoking, you come over a bridge and straight into the finish line, where you get your medal, goodie bag, and then you find your bag which is dumped where anyone could have taken it... I had pre-arranged to avoid the bus transfer as it sounded like a ridiculous idea, so didn't see the issues with the buses, but I am not surprised. Why they chose to start and finish in seperate locations is beyond me and definitely not runner or spectator friendly!!!
Like the idea of a step up from 10k and half marathon, so think they should continue the idea, however they really do need to resolve these points. Date of review: October 29, 2012

In short: Lovely race ruined by shoddy transport arrangements. In full: Lovely race but ruined by utter shambles with the alleged shuttle bus service. Having run 26.2 km, it was criminal that people were made to wait in the cold for 2 shuttle buses that were far too small (29 or so capacity) and the bus drivers seemed to be on a perpetual tea break. Absolutely ridiculous. We paid £6 for two bus tickets that we didn't use - having waited 40 minutes with no likelihood of us getting on a bus any time soon, we decided to give up and walk 5 minutes to McDonalds where we rang for a cab. Although we had to wait, at least we could have a warm drink and be out of the cold. McDonald's were so overwhelmed by runners asking for cab numbers that staff were giving out slips of paper with cab firm number already written on it. Oh the irony of seeing loads or healthy runners wrapped in foil blankets sitting in a fast food joint. The cab cost us £17. The least you could do is refund people's bus fares. I doubt I will ever do this race again, certainly my negative feelings outweigh the positive of running through beautiful scenery. Sort it out. Date of review: October 29, 2012

In short: Poor organisation spoilt what could be a unique event In full: Many comments already made about the transport issues. I still don't get why they couldn't design the route to finish back at the start point where there were pleanty of facilities, and our cars! No clear direction for where the buses were. At the finish you were handed your bag and medal and left to wander aimlessly. Date of review: October 29, 2012

In short: Nice race - appalling transport plus information for spectators In full: Enjoyed the race however I did not enjoy the 2 hour wait for a bus most if it in the cold. As we were in London for the weekend I persuaded my sons to come and support me. They wished I hadn't. It took over an hour to get to the finish due to the driver not knowing where to go. This meant some of the people who were also on the bus missed the finish of the half which was the reason they were there. Then they where they were left in a field with nothing to do but get cold - when they could have been told there was a leisure centre just over the bridge as well as somewhere they could watch the race before the finish. This also spoilt the rest of the day as we were really rushed to get to wembley for the NFL game which was part of my eldest sons birthday present. Date of review: October 28, 2012

In short: Race good. Post race organisation appalling In full: Race and pre race acceptable. 2 x 29 seater buses to take hundreds back to start just not acceptable. Some left stranded in near freezing conditions with all local taxis booked. Anyone with hypothermia? Where were the organisers to explain what went wrong. Supposedly all seats on buses pre booked. No one asked for tickets so why bother buying them. Some recompense is required by all those who pre booked. Date of review: October 28, 2012

In short: race was ok but post race organus=isation was a disaster. In full: Same comments as others regarding the shambolic bus situation. The Marshalls said they had been let down by the bus company but didnt seem to be bothered by this or making any alternative arangements. Would also have liked the medals/ribbons date marked.
