In short: Course was tougher than last years but the stadium finish was better. In full: Expensive race for what it is, the t-shirt was very disappointing as for that price you would expect something better than a cotton t-shirt. Marshalls were brilliant and so where the spectators round the course. The start was dull with not enough toilets and I did prefer last years course not just because it was flatter but I'm sure the scenery was better. Date of review: March 21, 2011

In short: Scenic course with good support from locals and marshalls but lacked atmosphere In full: A race with a lot of potential but lacked atmosphere, particularly at the start. Disappointingly low turnout. Buses to the start were late which made things rushed and some toilets in the car park would have taken the strain off the start area. On the whole well organised and marshalled and a good distance for the marathon trainer. Date of review: March 21, 2011

In short: Expensive, lacked atmosphere as low turnout - runners & spectators! In full: This was an OK race but had a lack of competitors (less than 1000 finishers when I think 5000 places were advertised)
The 'energy drink' was a joke, a drinks machine cupful - of which most when over your face or down your arm, was pointless
The finish was the best bit as it was round the athletics track and the spectators could support the runners...
Overall I wouldn't recommend or do again as too expensive and not much more fun than a normal training run ! Date of review: March 21, 2011

In short: Fanatastic marshalls, lacked atmosphere at start & finish, over priced In full: I really enjoyed the route. The marshalls were brilliant, organisation pre race was good. The start & finish lacked atmosphere. The start was in the middle of a road, no music, no refreshments availble. The end also was lacking anything. My poor family had to wait aged as we have to be there for 7.30 for the bus (the race started at 9am) & there was nothing for them to do. With a bit of tweaking & lowering the price this could be a really good run. Date of review: March 21, 2011

In short: nice run In full: This was my third Kilomathon and this was the smallest amount of runners so far. There were a few problems at the start i.e not enough and delayed buses. The signage to the parking could also have been better. The start area also had way to few toilets. The race was described as flat, which it was not,in particular the first few miles. However,it was a good run and the finish on the athletics track was good. The marshals and on course organisation make it a standout run. I like the Kilomathon format, but I worry that due to the very high price it will fail to survive Date of review: March 21, 2011

In short: Enjoyable In full: This is the longest distance I have run so far, and apart from the last couple of KMs when my knees felt very sore it was good. The price was steep and I doubt I'd run it again especially as I had the additional travel and hotel costs! Overall though, I'm pleased I ran this race! Date of review: March 20, 2011

In short: a rip off but they had amazing marshals In full: I was expecting a much bigger race than this so was surprised numbers where down so much this year obviously down to the price increase and the route course change that instead of going from Derby to Nottingham now just went round the outskirts of Derby. I found the lanes just went on for ever.
The main reason I paid the over the top race fee was for the medal and t shirt the runners got last year, and while the medal was good this year it was no where near as cool as last year and the t shirt this year was covered in sponsors, so that will be another cotton tee, worn in bed for a couple of days then binned instead of being worn and advertising the race.
What with the pay to park, and pay to get to the start on top of £40 race fees I most definitely wouldn't recommend or go back. Sorry to be harsh but the marshals were amazing thru out the course. Date of review: March 20, 2011

In short: problems at start but it got better... In full: The run was very expensive, the tickets for parking was mad as were the bus tickets which weren't looked at. Costs aside, the instruction to be at the buses at 7:30 sharp didnt go down well as they were 20 plus minutes late. There was also poor signage to the toilets of which there weren't really enough. No loud speaker to explain when the start was happening was not great but the marshalls on the course and derby public were ace. The course itself was challenging and the horrid 'energy' drink (thimble) mad it harder. medal and t-shirt were ok but the goody bag was poor, again considering the price....overall it was good. In short: fantastic marshalls and crowd support but penny pinching giving us a cup of sports drinks!! In full: the marshalls and crowd support were amazing and thank you for that - you made this race special. the organisation was great. but for almost £50 by the time you'd paid to park the car it was unacceptable that we were offered a mouthful of a sports drink in a plastic cup- that was shocking - more water stations and proper bottles of drinks next year guys - for the price your charging.how can we drink and run out of a cup :-(.
